Hmmm.. well, I interpreted the Giffen article as, *in some rare cases*, the higher the price, the more the company making the product invests in making it a better quality product. An annommaly and the complete opposite of what normally happens, where a company first releases a product on the market which is of very high quality and high priced, but as the product gains momentum and market share and sales, the price drops due to economies of scale, and also, the quality drops because its not as important to penetrate the market and beat competition.dzilizzi wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 4:19 amWhat? This must cost more to support your decision to buy a UAD device? AKA I'm better than you because I spent more for the same thing? Or maybe it's the Apple thing. I'm paying more so it must be better? But you'd think it would be cheaper since you also have to buy the hardware.telecode wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:39 pmprobably the same people that buy a $1000 UAD arrow interface.Calenberger wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:29 pmThese prices are completely crazy, just insane!monomox wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 6:11 pm
now they're only four times as expensive as the average plugin, hurry!
Who the hell is buying that stuff?
Then again, their sales pool is going to be small, (only those who own XX interface) so they can't sell as much.
See also "reassuringly expensive"
I was thinking more along the lines of "hey I had to pay $$$$ for your interface and now I have to pay quadruple than what I would pay elsewhere for a similar effect? You can only sell it to people like me and I don't see the value." But I guess most UAD people are in the first group.
I may be wrong.
I also don't know or claim thats the case with UAD products. I just posted it because I came across the sale and though it wasn't that bad priced when compare to competition. I have no claim that its better or worse than IKM Sunset Sound plugin. I don't own either yet.

I don't own Sunset Sound yet and maybe I will look at it at the next group buy. But quite frankly, I find the rooms view a little gimmickey. As a technician, all I keep thinking about when I see that rooms views is, how much systems resources is that using up while the plugin in loaded into the DAW?

Uncle E
I think I noticed a pricing mistake on your blowout page https://blowout.jrrshop.com/synth-anatomy-red-diva
Edit: is this just the preset pack or the synth and preset pack bundle?
