I agree, however, the more complicated the elements, the more difficult it is, the slower it is, and the more CPU it uses. I'm not a real fan of skeuomorphism unless it's recreating original hardware, and even then I can live without it if it sounds good.
They don't use the CPU, they use the GPU, which is what it's there for. You have now incredibly powerful GPUs in your display cards, capable of incredibly fast 3D render, and you think they can't deal with some trivial tasks as render properly and fast enough some slightly 3D graphic elements? :dog:

No, this has to do with the stupid trend of making everything like the smartphone GUIs. :x
Most DAWs still use CPUs for bulk of their rendering, though. It's only in the last 1-2 years we're seeing trend of moving to the GPU and Logic can easily lead here, because they have to worry about handful of hardware configs and one OS.
Depends on how much of Apple’s own APIs Logic X is using at this point. Logic has had a history of custom UI components (ugly and inconsistent at that), but if it’s all currently using Mac OS X APIs, and therefore available to system-wide Metal acceleration, it might be doing a lot of the GUI on GPU, at least in comparison to other DAWs (including cross-platform ones also on Mac OS).

Be a moralist all you want, nothing wrong with that. Just don't belittle people by taking their words out of context so you can feel good about calling them out as naive corporate shills, when that person simply showed some enthusiasm.

Looks like a huge update. Especially the sampler upgrade, the old one was tricky to use, for UI reasons. Might check it out again..
There are moral corporations? As if Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Facebook, Comcast, Samsung, etc. etc. are moral?? People need to get off their high horse and stop football team fan boy preaching false narratives.

Speaking of the Environment... When are Apple going to 100% redo the GUI of the Environment? Ever?

That's what I said - Logic has it much easier than any other DAW to lead in this regard. Actually I'm quite surprised they've not tried leveraging GPGPU / compute yet, because - again - they're in unique position of having tight & controlled integration between soft- and hardware.

You're asking for when editing or playing? Because for the latter you can use the chord track or Repeater Note FX.
It just seems like a missed opportunity that they built a step sequencer into the DAW and not include a transpose option in the Step Sequencer itself. At least, last time I checked.

Yeah, there are lots of ways to work around it (pattern to MIDI, transpose in PRV is another), but lets say I have a melodic sequence in the Step Sequencer: I should be able to copy it, transpose the copy by +2 from the step sequencer itself, maybe force it to a scale/key, then have two independent sequences at the end. Maybe even throw an "apply" function in there to "print" the transposition.

That was one of the first things I noticed when using the Step Sequencer in the Studio One 4 demo, and I don't think they've since added it. I only bring it up because it was pointed out as being a great example of a Step Sequencer in a DAW from a feature perspective, and that feels like a glaring omission to me.

Sadly also now Logic also does stop playing sustained sounds if i switch to another track. Before i could sustain and switch to another track without the track stop playing. That is odd. Oh Apple, now you start agin to take away some features i liked.

Inspector has a Transpose field you can use, but that's for whole track and it's not automatable.

I couldn't find a way after all :(

It might be more Catalina than LPX.5. Purely anecdotal, but I haven’t encountered any plugins misbehaving in Mojave.

Neither have I. I only have Kontakt 5 from NI, though I have yet to load it.

Not Catalina. My NI plugins worked in Logic before the update and don't now.

I find the program loads a bit more quickly. Usually, the first time I load Logic after booting my computer, it would take a few seconds before the Logic banner thingy comes up. Thereafter, it would load like it is doing now. No hesitation, though it still takes a few secs to look at my plugins.

I'm pretty sure someone earlier in this thread said they had the issue but they're not on Catalina.
