A decade? I think you might want to take another look at what other DAWs had in 2010...
At least decent Step sequencer, drum rack, Sampler are existing for long.
You didn't notice the drum rack and sampler in the previous version?
That was the whole meaning of “modernized ones existing in other daws for decade”
You've changed your quote.

Anything ill will I've ever said about them has been about their discontinuation of "depleted" products policy, one thing they aren't is dishonest. :)

A hot fix update will take care of it I bet.
It not just NI plugins that are breaking.

I guess products should never ever be discontinued. And we should all have ill will towards companies that engage in the discontinuation of products. It's terribly anti consumer and breaks trust.

The only product that I'm actively pissed about that they discontinued is Kore and only really because some of the sounds in Kore are irreplaceable. There is nothing in NI's current lineup that sounds as good as some of their Kore sound packs. Otherwise the products they discontinued were older versions of plugins, which imo is fine to discontinue those.

True - but I'm still running these.

I mean that's kid of on you then. I can understand not wanting upgrade but you can't expect NI to support older plugins forever. Even though NI doesn't support Kore anymore it's still available to download on their site along with any of the Kore sound packs I've brought over the years. I don't expect that to always be the case.

I'd understand if it were like Massive or FM8, but the plugins they discontinued some are over a decade old since they were last updated. You are talking about Kontakt 2, Intakt, Kompakt, FM7(!).

First quote: "It looks Logic finally got modernized features that are existing in other daws for decade."
Second quote: "modernized ones existing in other daws for decade”

First one is specific: "features". The features were there already. Second quote: "ones" - vague and incomplete sentence.

his gets hashed up again and again, but they discontinue without support almost immediately. Most companies update for a while after depletion. Then there's hardware support, I got stung twice with them, Kore and Rig Kontrol, in the case of Rig Kontrol 3 they still make the software that it "supports" in Guitar Rig. They don't even bother fixing the code to make the hardware compatible as a MIDI controller in Controller Editor, that's depleted as well. Then there's the whole discontinuation of even allowing people to authorize older software fiasco.

There's no denying that they're quicker than most to deplete older products. Lots of great things can be said about NI, honest, fantastic deals in Komplete, the industry leader sampler wise in Kontakt, but this is one area they aren't too great in. :?

NI have already said they will fix it in an update, admitting fault. With that in mind, it's entirely reasonable to assume that other companies also made similar code mistakes that cause issues with their plug ins in Logic.

With the admission of fault comes the thought that maybe barking up the Catalina tree was ill informed, coupled with the fact the people on Mojave are also experiencing plug ins breaking in Logic 10.5.

My point remains, it's not always Apple, but it seems some people love a bogeyman.

Super happy about this update, has anyone got a maschine mk3 and used it in live loops grid? Wondering how I set it up?

Do you think it's pure generosity coming from deep love they have for you ? ...or they just calculated they will get more of your money by hooking you to their hardware with their software ? :hihi:

Money that Apple would make from paid upgrades would probably be insignificant for them...

That's no secret. That's why Apple bought Emagic and FCP in the first place to have pro level software on their platforms which they control and that use their technologies so they can sell more hardware. Apple may not love us but unless everyone buys a new Mac every year, it sure feels nice to have a DAW that get updated on regular basis and all I paid for it was $199 all the way back in 2013.

I've always seen it more as a way to get people to upgrade to the latest OS. Which is why I'm surprised that they didn't force it this time.
They’re doing one better in my case: forcing me to buy another Mac because Mojave doesn’t support my iMac 12,2 from 2011(?). I’ve been waiting for a proper pro Mac for ages and their 2019 Mac Plutocrat is obviously not meant for my poverty-stricken bank account.
You can upgrade the GPU and install Mojave.
