Charlie Clouser (and another NIN alumni?) even posted there to offer their recollection on the names of the tools, how they were used/misused/abused, and the various ways in which they all worked at the sounds during the first three or four NIN releases. If I saw you doing any other genre I’d say any foreign genre would be good.
Look up dangdut. It’s influenced by Bollywood and Middle Eastern pop but features predominantly western instruments such as guitar, keyboards, and drum machine.

I could see you could do this genre since it uses a mix of live instruments and synths/drum machine mostly or at least accessible synths and drum machines like DX7, D-50, M1, Wavestation, and Technics KN2000 and Alesis and Roland drum Machines.

The lyrics are mostly about broken hearts, sappy love tales, or cheating or basically any love or relationship related themes, as well as some with folk based lyrics and stuff. But they could be about anything.

I find it terribly difficult to put words/lyrics and songs together, though I’ve made plenty of each separately. So it might be a fun experiment to sing someone else’s stuff again (especially if you’ve got a model of what you want via a vocaloid temp track).

I admit I’ve no interest in country. That’s just how I feel about it and I try not to judge an entire world of music per only my tastes (nor the people who enjoy said music). It just isn’t for me.

I’ve no use for a lot of music, it seems. It impresses me when people are able and willing to experiment with many genres, it’s just never been how I function (and that’s probably a bad thing).
