Not a waste of time at all, it's all part of the creative process!

In April I almost posted a mash-up of my abandoned ideas, I had a few. When I listen to them now I say to myself why didn't I go with that, or that one :dog: ?

I'm interested in how you and others edit their ideas, and some OSC contributors/competitors do post their musical bits for us that don't make it to the final entries.

So, keep on...

Good point. I like to see people's processes. TheNeverScene always delivers super-detailed insta-grooves with his WiP's, ilmai drums up some big fat chords, and Taron apparently has memorable, ethereal melodies at his fingertips.. fun to observe where people start.

Hi!
Noob here. So, I decided to use this quarantine to study music recording and production, discovered KVR OSC and thought it'd be a good way to learn about digital audio, and how to use synths and the DAW.
I started just playing with the synth and reading the DAW help, and after one month and many many hours of study, I ended up with this kind of hybrid song, which starts with a lot of percussive sounds, inspired in brazilian rhythms, then morphs to a more electronic sound, and finally to a mix of both styles in the end. It makes me imagine a movie scene of a gunfight in a semi-arid brazilian landscape, which is the meaning of the name.

It would be nice to hear your impressions and advices on the mixing, the sounds, effects, and any topic that I can study for improvement.

DAW: Cubase AI 10.5
Tricent Instances: 15

Plugins:
Each synth track uses built-in strip equalizer, a Molot03 or RoughRider3, and sends to a paralel FX track with Mverb2020.
Stereo Out track uses built-in strip equalizer, ReaXComp, IVGI2.

I had an idea for a track that I started almost at the start of the month and then got too busy to continue until then. As I'm playing with the presets though, it just strikes me - how is it that Bjorns Korg emulations always feel more real than Arturias? I can hear where Bjorns filters don't quite respond like a real synth might, but everything else about it feels so real to me.

One preset in particular, all of sudden I heard Mathew Wilder - Break My Stride coming out of this synth. It's completely uncanny.

I suppose this is it. I could practice this some more but I doubt I can make it more musical in two days.

Made in Reaper 6 with one instance of Tricent MkIII. No external processing was done, except that which Soundcloud will do.

You can find the score, patch, and MIDI here.

Coincidentally, I rarely hit above 6% CPU for most of this process.

-- edit --
I rushed some sections of the track so I went back and performed it a little slower. Same deal as before, just trying to be a bit more expressive.

Cheers on the submission! Just a note: is event horizon this one? If so, it would not be allowed as it's a 3rd party commercial effect.

Hi everybody,
here is my first-time-ever-OSC-submission!
As I liked the Trident in the early 1980s but could not afford it, I'm very happy that FullBucket offers it for free now!

Here ist my track: https://soundcloud.com/user-935392739/n ... ricentOnly

DAW: MuLab 8.6.9-32bit
Tricent: 1
Effects: Classic Limiter, Classic Reverb

I used only one single instance, routed to three individual racks for adding individual reverb.
Limiter for safety on each rack and on master.
Only one reverb-rack, adressed with individual sends from the three racks.

Hope, you like it!
