Kinh wrote: Sun Jun 28, 2020 11:20 am it's software like this that makes music creation a joke! The process is becoming more like playing a video game. Any tom dick or harry of any age can produce. People like me and others who are trained devote years to their craft and then along comes something like this requiring no theory, no knowledge, just press a button and away you go.
Well if devoting years of training to your craft and you can only make the melodies from Chordpotion, then you didn't do a good job studying.
i didn't say that, you did. and why you did is anyone's guess yet at the same time, probably not worth guessing.

i was merely saying technology is being made to do the work for us like that dna software to the point where there's little effort on our part anymore, no skill needed. no wonder songs today lack passion and music's devalued. mozart, bach are rolling in their graves as we speak. id be very surprised if there's a push2 user who knows what a treble clef is.

i think it's odd how music creation technology is advancing the rate it is while music consumer techology isn't.
i think it's odd how people stink up threads of products they have no intention of using.
this isn't "Dylan goes electric".
kindly take your mozart and your treble clef, and drag your soapbox over to Hyde Park.

I was using the "you" as a proverbial "you", meaning that if this software replaces years of training then the person who did the training, didn't do much of it. Hence, this software does not take the place of years of training. If you put crap into it, you get crap out. That should be obvious from the demo. I'm sure Mozart would've adapted with the times and would produce something contemporary since his musical prowess would not have been limited to produce only music of the classical era. However, that's a completely hypothetical discussion and not the subject of this thread.

well it's quite simple init? I mean the topic is not about the skills people have, it's about a new plugin so I agree with you Trancit, please ignore the previous attempts to derail the thread and lets just stay on topic...Kinh you obviously have no interest in the plugin, if you wish to continue this tangent feel free to start a thread in the appropriate forum.

Is this like Captain Chords or is it more like Xfer Chtulhu? Or in between? It looks very interesting.

It´s actually more inbetween...

ChordPotion works with chords you feed into it but it doesn´t create chord progressions... it chops up chords, create´s melodies out of chords etc...

Hauke´s Sundog would be more like Captain plugins... Chord Potion is more a midi mangler for chords...

Trancit's answer sums it up pretty good :). Sundog is a standalone software though. You connect it to your DAW via MIDI.

Cool Plugin :tu: Unfortunatly I can not justify another Midi Plugin in my vst folder  I already have Xfer Cthulhu and Nora CM and rarely use them. But at least I can tell you that your plugin is working fine in the latest Cubase version on Windows 10 :)

Hehe, thanks for the test then!

Thanks @trancit, sounds like what I'm looking for. At this price it's probably worth a try.
