this one might be better for that wedding i was imagining earlier :hihi:
well done! :D
As nerve wracking as that last track was, I really enjoyed doing it. My only wish is that I had some really good background singers. I think it deserved better than Realivox Ladies and Vocaloid. And certainly my voice was way out of its comfort zone trying to sing the part of a 14 year old Ralph Carter who hits an "A" in his sleep. Technology played a huge part in my getting this thing done, which is why I didn't even attempt to do it 43 years ago.
Good arrangement and mix. You are so productive, I cannot believe it...
Glad you said it yourself - not your voices comfort zone. Why not sing it an octave lower? Okay ... then it would no longer fit the "young" part of the title.

Things that came to my mind:
Why not end every CD now with a version of "Young and in love". I think the mad scientist version could be epic, but I really look forward listening to the death/black metal version ;-)

And last but not least - for the mad scientist project - never, really never underestimate killer vegetables: https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Profes ... r_Gangreen
Thanks for the listen and feedback Peter. The problem with singing it an octave lower is the first verse, which was in my range, would have been too low to sing. Either way, I was screwed.

As for a version of the song for every CD, I don't think so. Once was hard enough.

For the mad scientist project, never forget the evil robots, the genetically modified animals, and test tube stuff.
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Music Bird wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2020 10:37 am That was a very close cover. Did you use the MODO guitar?
If you’re doing a mad scientist one, please do a cover of a Dr. demento song :D
Or ‘She Blinded Me With Science’.
And do a song about robots, I think a song about evil robots would be awesome as can be!
The guitars on the song were Music Labs Real Strat. The bass was MODO Bass. I don't think there is a MODO Guitar yet, unless they released it while I wasn't looking.

A cover of "Blinded" would be interesting, but I think I'm going to stay away from covers for a while. They're too hard to get right.

I'll definitely keep all these suggestions in mind.

Well, we're getting down to the home stretch. Only 2 more tracks to go. Really like this one. Getting back to the fun.

Life Of The Party

You're the coolest gal I know
And I love to have you round
So I bring you everywhere
Social scenes are your playground

And everybody sees
What is clear to me
And it just can't be denied

You are the life of the party
Everybody knows it's true
You are the life of the party
And you know they all love you
So flash that smile and take a bow
Dazzle the room like only you know how
Here she comes boys so don't look now
She's the life of the party

You've had it all your life
And you know just how to play
It comes easy like the wind
You have it everyday

Repeat Pre Chorus and Chorus

I wish I could just have a piece of what you've got
To get me far it would not take a lot

Instrumental Break

Repeat Chorus

Outro

I enjoyed this one. Sounds like authentic disco to me. I especially enjoyed the plucky instrument that arrives with the second verse. The strings again are great. Well done Wagtunes.

Now THIS is disco. Inspired by Gloria Gaynor. Only 1 song left and this project will be done. Hard to believe.

Just Like Gloria Gaynor

Had my share of heartache
Had my share of pain
Been caught in the middle
Standing in the rain

I'm not one to dwell on the past
Or moan about bad breaks
I'm gonna pull myself up on my feet
I'll do whatever it takes

Life can be such a bitch
Can knock you on your ass
It can suck like nothing else
I don't mean to be crass

You can sit around cursing your luck
And wondering why it went wrong
I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna do
And sing it in this song

Just like Gloria Gaynor
I'm gonna fight to survive
That girl could take on a tiger
And come through it alive
There's nothing out there can stop me
The world will bow at my feet
You can join in my conquest
As I take to the street, destiny
I will break free

The days of suffering are over
The devil can go to hell
I feel the energy soaring
My mind's as clear as a bell

Repeat Verse 4

Repeat Chorus 2x

I enjoyed this one too. Again the strings are excellent.

Well, it's finally done. The production notes for this thing would fill a book. I can't even begin to tell you all the technical problems I had, not the least of which was that the song was completely out of my range and thus had to do some technical wizardry to get it to sound as good as it does.

The arrangement is a good part of the original but I did leave a few things out because there was just too much and some of the parts I simply could not figure out.

Anyway, I'm no Ralph Carter and I had no way of getting a hold of the Marvelettes so the vocals are what they are. But all in all, I think I did a respectable job.

When You're Young And In Love

Spring's in the air
There's magic everywhere
When you're young and in love
Life seems to be
A world of fantasy
When you're young and in love

Each night seems just
Like the Fourth of July
When stars spangle the sky
The moon at night
Seems to shine twice as bright
When you're young and in love

Dreams can come true
If you believe they do
When you're young and in love

Though many teardrops
Are bound to fall
True love will conquer all
When you're, when you're
Young and in love

Trust and you'll find there's no mountain you can't climb when you're young and in love

(When you're young and in love)

Though many teardrops
Are bound to fall
True love will conquer all
When you're
When you're
Young and in love, oh, yeah

When you're young in love
When you're young in love
When you're young in love

Just excellent, Wagtunes. You've got me thinking about what my favourite disco song is, but too many to choose from. I think my idea of what "disco" is differs from yours because i grew up in the 1980s. For example: Donna Summer - I feel love is disco no? or is it what you call dance? I'd always thought it is disco because that's what i'd been told.

My next vote would be for showtunes, but i see that's not very popular.

I may do Showtunes after my Mad Scientist project even though it isn't very popular. As for the Donna Summer question, yes, that's disco but also considered very early EDM. In fact, by many, it's considered the pioneer of EDM.

Thanks for all the listens and feedback.

1st and title track from my upcoming CD "Mad Scientist"

This first track should give you a pretty good idea what to expect from this CD. Total unpredictability. Songs will probably be a mashup of genres. Expect a lot of weirdness and even some silliness. Nothing is off limits on this one.

This will not be everybody's cup of tea. In fact, it may not be anybody's cup of tea. But short of my prog CDs, which still aren't this haphazard, I've never done anything like this concept. I felt it was something I needed to explore.

So here it is, for better or for worse.

Mad Scientist

It starts with the brain
And what an amazing brain it is
All the wonders of the world
Are at the command of this wiz

He whips up his potions
Adds just a touch of spice
It's all that he needs
To make it come out nice

Mad scientist on the loose
His head is ready for a noose
Beware of the flask in his hand
He'll make ashes of this land

He plots his next crime
He has everything that he needs
He vanishes in the night
And wanders through the weeds

He must be stopped
At all costs
He must be stopped
Before all is lost

Repeat Chorus

Vurt, you would be stunned at how many musical sides I have. Keep in mind, growing up as a kid, I listened to...

Opera
Symphonies
Concertos
Broadway
Jazz
Beatles
Led Zepplin
Genesis
King Crimson
Carpenters
John Denver
James Brown
Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, etc.
Wendy Carlos
Tangerine Dream
Uriah Heep
Disco
Supremes, Four Tops, Temptations

And on and on.

About the only things I didn't listen to growing up were rap an hip hop. My record collection could fill up half a basement.

Check out my Musical Round Robin thread in Everything Else Music and you'll see how many genres I cover in the span of over 4,000 songs listened to on Youtube in the last year and 3 months.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=522861&p=7359820#p7359820

So yeah, I could pretty much write anything, combine them, and still make it sound like one song.

Expect more weirdness to come.
