timbit2006 wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2020 6:15 am Did anyone else sign up for producertechs free trial promo 3 months ago and just got hit with a 9.99GBP auto charge to their paypal account? I don't really know how to feel, they trick you to sign up with a free trial then auto charge your account when you forgot about the site months later. It legitimately does not even have 1 single thing on it that would be useful to me at this point. I don't recall giving them permission to auto charge my paypal either.
I did e-mail their support so hopefully It's just an honest mistake on their end, if not I'm not sure what to do. does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this? Thanks in advance
Its your own fault, just face it. Free trials always come with the caveat that they will charge you. Just accept this as a lesson. I've signed up for so many in the last year of shelter in place, like Ask Audio and I cancel right away. I forget some like You Tube TV and I just live with the mistake. If you didnt know you'd be charged you should really stay away from aggressively pursuing bargains. If it were my business I would never refund you.
The Groove3 30-day free trial didn't require payment information, so I had assumed they wouldn't try to charge at the end of it... perhaps I should cancel on the second to last day just to be safe.

Producertech did also come with iirc a few gigabytes of free samples. Mostly house music though.

Under the Membership tab. In my opinion it is as prominent as necessary and no dark patterns there.

The second you give your payment information to anyone you have accepted certain responsibilities, including the responsibility to find out what those responsibilities are.

It was interesting reading peoples opinions on whether its right to autocharge after a trial period. I've personally been using the internet for at least 20 years and never had that happen to me so it was quite alarming.
well all free subs in the apple eco-system come with auto-charge-after-free-is-up, however they usually send you an email warning you.

welcome to 2020 i guess. :?

I’ve got used to immediately creating calendar reminders to cancel by a certain date. Next big one for me is ComposerCloudX, can’t wait as I haven’t used any of it for months now and I want to fund a new synth.

In addition to inputting it on my calendar, I usually set up an email reminder to cancel before being charged. There are a bunch of free services that do that, I've been using:

(remember to put in hour and minute; it should tell you that it's been successfully set)

Ah, I couldn't get into the membership area because I had to enter payment info. I didn't want to risk getting billed so I contacted support!

I've found that usually with free trials you can immediately cancel and retain your access through your trial/free period. Unfortunately you can't do that with this particular deal as they "bill" you once a month for three months with a 100% discount. I wish they told you when you were actually going to be charged but I think their membership system just isn't set up for it (I actually cancelled 13 days in because there was no indication in my account that I wasn't going to be charged. Contacted support and they told me that it was working correctly and uncancelled my sub. So far so free (I think I've got like two months left)).

Just wondering if anyone uses ACID Pro in addition to your main DAW. Does it provides any benefits to your workflow and the sound and music creative processes?

I am shopping for a basic non-pro but quality DAW for my nephew who is starting to show strong interests in music production, when I noticed ACID Pro Suite v10 that I could buy as an upgrade to my 20-year old v3 license. The upgrade is not cheap (€249) but it includes Xfer Serum.

2-3 years ago I would jump at this but the times have changed and I am not sure if I would actually use Serum next to my Falcon, Reaktor and other more recent synths.

Suite 10 also includes zynaptiq STEM MAKER 2 and Melodyne 5 essential.

On the contrary: it lies with the merchant not to charge you for things you haven’t explicitly asked for. Anything else is deceptive, which is often part of the point of these trials: to trick you into paying for something you never really wanted

I have actually submitted payment and waiting for processing. The included ACID Music Studio looks like a good first DAW for my nephew. ACID Pro version would be for myself
