Yes. But they have to write the drivers. There is potential for problems.

Yeah, I won't post anything about that. The first official Macs on Apple Silicon will use a new generation of CPUs anyway.

This is great news. I've been wondering how many audio devs will make the jump. Zebra is the main thing I'd be afraid to lose if moving to one of the new machines. I'm very curious what performance is going to be like. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Most certainly. If not, we'll have two installers. We'll most likely manage to support down below 10.12 afaik

Btw, the GUI performance fix for Zebra you pointed us to does not work for Hive (or anything with a scope, where it's actually slower). Hence, we made it optional in a hidden preference. So when we release Zebra 2.9.2 (not Arm yet) next week or so, you might want to locate the preferences file in the user library, open it in Textedit and set "Cocoa draws asynchronously" to "YES". Run it once first, then close the host, then edit the file.

Considering Apple was involved in the conception and execution of thunderbolt, I would say you have nothing to worry about.

Little Update Oct 27th 2020: It's looking very good. Neither Rosetta complains about running our Intel Plug-Ins on Apple Silicon, nor do we experience issues with our natively compiled plug-ins - which, well, compile just fine (but are not yet integrated in our automated workflow). We'll post news as we go, e.g. once we have beta versions in a few weeks or so.

Just bumping this with the M1 silicon now out. Can we get some more info/detail about the performance (Diva et al) now that this is out in the wild? How does it compare to the Intel performance etc?

We're ordering M1 Macs today. I'll let you guys know asap.

Our builds for Arm are coming along nicely, too, I'm sure we'll soon see betas and releases including native support for Apple Silicon.
