I never said I consider it a stand-alone trade. I do make music with the sounds I program. But I do not consider sound design a necessary evil, which is what it sounds like in your case. I like making patches, often it is a challenge when I try to emulate real instruments. I spend quite some time on details. I find making patches about as exciting as doing my taxes and if I want to make something sound like a real instrument, I'll use samples. (Drums and distorted guitars, mostly.)

Oberhausen sounds better than 99% of the stuff I own, but, hey, to each his own. If anything it's quite limited, and I sometimes don't dig the unpredictable behavior of the envelopes (it's hard to get a snappy, "straight" attack out of it, because the attack stage seems to differ on every note, even with TMT turned off). It's always a bit "opened" so to say.

Yes, I have a couple of soft synths with snappy envelopes. And I'm a big fan of them, that's right. Or... at least, I like them. And I wonder why there's so few of them, because I think it's a very favorable property.
