Can anything compete with DIVA or Repro in 2020?!

I never said I consider it a stand-alone trade. I do make music with the sounds I program. But I do not consider sound design a necessary evil, which is what it sounds like in your case. I like making patches, often it is a challenge when I try to emulate real instruments. I spend quite some time on details. And I think others like my patches as well because just recently I was invited to make factory patches for a big synth makerBONES wrote: Sun Sep 27, 2020 2:08 amKeep It Simple, Stupid.I consider sound design to be about 5% of what I do as an artist. It's a skill anyone working with synthesisers or in a studio has to have if they want to do good work. It's not something I see as a valid standalone trade. If you're a good sound designer, you should be able to coax great sounds out of anything and working with a more limited set of tools would be the ultimate challenge, wouldn't it? I certainly couldn't create our wall of sound from 4 or 5 instruments if I wasn't a competent sound designer.Nor do I know what you mean by your last sentence. I consider myself a sound designer. As a sound designer I can't live with 1 or 2 envelopes. Additional envelopes can make a big difference.
Then again, I have heard a bit of your music, so I kind of agree that intricate synth patches are not really necessary in your case. No offense

I find making patches about as exciting as doing my taxes and if I want to make something sound like a real instrument, I'll use samples. (Drums and distorted guitars, mostly.)
Well, it does seem to be in a lot of people's favourites lists but let's go with you, even though you present no evidence to support your stupid claim and nobody agrees with you.Ploki wrote: Sun Sep 27, 2020 8:05 amlol imagine believing bx_oberhausen sounds better than... anything

Just wondering, but, do you have an axe to grind with PA? I remember you were the guy who complained so much about Knifonium's aliasing.Ploki wrote: Sun Sep 27, 2020 8:05 amlol imagine believing bx_oberhausen sounds better than... anything
Oberhausen sounds better than 99% of the stuff I own, but, hey, to each his own. If anything it's quite limited, and I sometimes don't dig the unpredictable behavior of the envelopes (it's hard to get a snappy, "straight" attack out of it, because the attack stage seems to differ on every note, even with TMT turned off). It's always a bit "opened" so to say.

I wrote about it a lot, but long story short, f**k PA

Yes, I have a couple of soft synths with snappy envelopes.
And I'm a big fan of them, that's right. Or... at least, I like them. And I wonder why there's so few of them, because I think it's a very favorable property.
