Its an unusual move as Cherry Audio advertises a retail but say at the same time the sale price is the permanent price, redundant unless they think it shows the plugin holds more value than $25, but the discrepency between those prices doesnt jump into a different value tier the way PA or Waves make it out to be (they aint kidding nobody though). Especially as it was this price at launch and never had the opportunity to be $39, so why not just make it $25 clean..
Didnt know there was a legal issue, thanks for the heads up on that issue, good to know.

I'm sure the fact that plugins are so international is why these permanent discount wars exist - trading standards officers in the UK aren't going to chase a plugin maker in Arizona. And when you've got dozens of plugins it's much easier to have serial sales that drive your business. The problem is that customers get hooked on sales and never pull the trigger on a purchase at full price. It's quite corrosive because it undermines trust in the brand.

well tbh it's the wild west. No-one chases up VAT collection on Brits making foreign web site purchases either as far as I know.Double Tap wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2020 1:38 pm I'm sure the fact that plugins are so international is why these permanent discount wars exist - trading standards officers in the UK aren't going to chase a plugin maker in Arizona

The guidelines I quoted are US FTC - Cherry Audio is incorporated in California, so seems pretty clear-cut jurisdiction-wise.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2020 1:46 pmwell tbh it's the wild west. No you're right, but is someone in Porto or Vladivostok or Durham going to bother to find out who they should get in touch with in California to complain? The number of music producers all over the world seems to be in the tens of thousands, so probably the number in the US isn't so huge that there would be lots of complaints.OneOfManyPauls wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2020 1:52 pmThe guidelines I quoted are US FTC - Cherry Audio is incorporated in California, so seems pretty clear-cut jurisdiction-wise.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2020 1:46 pmwell tbh it's the wild west. we all have our own opinions about waves, each one as correct as the other... personally, I do feel suspicious of their business model. For the last couple of years I've seen their prices go down significantly. So do I wonder if pushing current customers into renewing their WUP might become their strategy to increase their revenue in the near future. But, yeah, no need to worry, we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it... plenty of alternatives, though.Insanelysane wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:11 am I do agree that as a PC user I havent had to worry about WUP at all. That V12 release is getting piled on by everyone for its lack of effort with the resizing (stretching not redesigned or 'repixelated' is coming off by and large as lazy and soulless)

Polarity's youtube channel is excellent for all things Bitwig.
Maybe it's not unlikely Bitwig will do a sale pretty soon as they release the new 3.3 version before Christmas, hopefully.
I'm a subscriber to Polarity's Youtube already

I just want to moan about something.
I was going to buy Sonible Smart EQ 2, it's advertised as being on special both on the official site (main home page talking about birthday sale) and on JRR Shop (under featured specials), but both places it's regular price when added to the basket. It's obvious that the sale is finished, it's just both places haven't taken their "signs" down.
I don't want to make a big deal about it, I can take it or leave it. I guess it's at the seller's discretion, but in a real life shop they would have to honor the displayed price, mistake or not.
Again, I don't want to make a make a big deal about it, I just wanted to discus the matter.

The tutorials on YouTube are not very current. I regret buying the full jamstix package during their holiday sale last year, I never use it and haven’t found it very easy to use when I’ve tried. In the end, anytime I’ve tried to use any software drummer, I’ve always wound up recording a real drummer instead and it gets better results for me.v1o wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2020 12:38 amThere are tutorials on Youtube though. But I agree the Jamstix UI and workflow is a bit peculiar. They don't follow any standard conventions.monomox wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:22 pm Jamstix is also buggy. I've had issues with it in Reaper and Studio One. It has a lot of potential. Unfortunately the developer doesn't see the benefit in providing a good tutorial.

Trying to hold out as long as I can for BF, but... does anyone know if the following ever go on sale?
- Oxford Inflator
- Oeksound Soothe 2
- Tal-U-NO-LX
- Ample Base
- Keyscape (I know Spectrasonics never does sales, but maybe vendors will do a 15+% off coupon for BF?)
- Sonarworks reference headphone/studio calibration software
Thanks!!

TAL had like 40 percent off on Black Friday in the past. I don't know, if it was last year, but two years ago for sure. And I think I remember a sale on Soothe 2, but I'm not really sure about that, sorry.

...You're right! However, I just tried the link near the bottom of the same page (just above where it says "THIS ARTICLE WAS UPDATED ON JANUARY 14, 2020") and it worked ok allowing a 10% discount for an upgrade.krixa wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2020 9:48 pmDoesn't seem to work.
