they're not registered in europe, so nobody can do anything even if it is. They could technically ban waves sales in europe, but we're not there yet.robotmonkey wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 11:10 am
Yeah, right I'm sure a company of the size of Waves has no lawyers who can actually tell them what's legal and what's not in a major market jurisdiction.

1. They are not stupid. There are times where they do charge full price. Especially in the beginning, which is sufficient...Ploki wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 10:47 am Using false list price (the price a product literally NEVER sells for!) is also illegal.
Charging WUP based on LIST PRICE despite the fact that it's fictional is also probably illegal.
2. Its to your benefit! If they would not have customers paying full prices and WUP without hunting sales, they can deliver the product for you at a lower price! Basically its getting money from those who would never be able to pay full prices and having them telling that they use the software successfully, its the best available advertisement they don't have to pay for, to the contrary they even get paid...
Imagine you book a studio and have something prepared with an expensive plug-in you got for just 29.99... The studio would just have to buy it immediately for whatever price is up at the moment, and maybe miss the code if there is a special...
Recently I did some consulting with a professional who is not into plugins at all. It wasn't Waves but Izotope, where you get often at least 50%. The plugins she needed to solve her problem of course was bought immediately without any sales advantage. Paying me for consulting is more expensive (and worth it...). This is fair all along the way... (By calling support I could get her a free upgrade for the newest version though the grace period was over. Best argument was that the full price had been paid not too long ago...)

You bring up the same drivel every single time there is a Waves topic. You don’t like Waves, we get it. I think you even started a nonsensical topic slating them just recently. Move on.Ploki wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 10:47 amFalse advertising a feature you're not implement is illegal in europe.robotmonkey wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 7:04 am
The price of WUP per plugin is also not an issue. It's very reasonable considering that majority of developers ask 19-29$ per plugin for most upgrades.
Now granted, if they start to push out a new major release every year and it's as underwhelming as V10 was, you would probably need to pay WUP sooner, and that would suck. Especially if you are on Mac.
Using false list price (the price a product literally NEVER sells for!) is also illegal.

I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I like the CLA signature pack for a quick and lazy setup on guitar and vocals.

Im nervous about updating and creating yet more waveshell folders. currently its a hassle to find a particular plugin, cause after every update and new purchase, waves central makes a mess of my vst folders.

I used compression software to archive all Waves VST2 in vstplugins then deleted the originals leaving just VST3.pascual wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:47 pm Im nervous about updating and creating yet more waveshell folders. currently its a hassle to find a particular plugin, cause after every update and new purchase, waves central makes a mess of my vst folders.
Users really should have more choices on installation, no use for AAX.
The ability to merge all mono/stereo versions would be nice, instead of having multiple of the same plugin.

That's odd as they basically install the VST2 versions in one folder here, and the VST3 in another. Not sure if documentation is going somewhere else.pascual wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:47 pm Im nervous about updating and creating yet more waveshell folders. currently its a hassle to find a particular plugin, cause after every update and new purchase, waves central makes a mess of my vst folders.
My only issue with V12 is they are so fuzzy blown up. So definitely not something im paying for.

I don’t know about lazy, have you seen he many plugins they have to go through just to get this far. It must’ve taken them months. Not exactly lazy in my mind. But I do still feel they should have done a proper jobjochicago wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 2:41 pmSo, Waves does a lazy minimal effort so they have something to charge for now, and then do an actual decent job so they have something to charge for in 12 months?simon.a.billington wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 11:57 am I'm willing to bet this is just a temporary measure until they go back and do that now graphic refresh most people have been asking for. Give it some time I say, the have A LOT of plugins to get through.
That does sound like Waves.
of it, so I agree with you on that.
Had they have done that, though, we would be waiting even longer. At least we have something useable NOW.
