I have Pigments and Falcon. Vital is most definitely not at all underwhelming. Exactly the opposite.HTT wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 12:37 am From the videos I have seen, Vital is completely and totally underwhelming for anyone that already has any of the following: Serum/Sylenth/Hive 2/Anima/Pigments/ANA 2/Falcon.

Um, from what I've seen in this thread there are people who have some of those synths and still find Vital exciting. It seems strange that you're taking the time to let them know their impressions of their own feelings are wrong, based on you just having watched some videos when they have actually used the software.pough wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 1:27 am [quote=HTT post_id=7948666 time=1605832622 user_id=444490]

What I have is videos. I judge my conclusions from what I have available. They have used the software. Well great for them! Maybe they also have undisclosed incentives to hype Vital. Maybe it is just “new toy syndrome” on their part. Nothing shown changes my conclusions. Nothing what you post changes my conclusions. What you decide is what you decide.

I will pick up Vital for free because it is... free! I am not expecting much for free. If Vital is a tectonic shift in wavetable synths, I will say so. If not, well...

I have most of the synths you listed and am not underwhelmed in the slightest. Of course it’s not a “tectonic shift” — no one ever pretended it would be (and it’s not clear how ANY wavetable synth these days could be).But it’s thoroughly pleasant to use, sounds good, and is cheap. In short, it’s everything I hoped it would be.

Ahh... got it... never really wanted that cause presets are all too different for there to be one global setting I would always want. But hey, seems like a good feature request and with the little squares in Vital, there could be a little curve right in them which could serve that purpose.bmanic wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 1:42 amThe use case of a user who doesn't want to create their own presets nor deep dive into tweaking anything.. but rather simply wants to fine-tune ALL pressure, modwheel etc incoming midi information sources to their hardware, in one simple action per source.pdxindy wrote: Thu Nov 19, 2020 11:36 pm Vital seems exceptionally good in this regard. I'm not sure what use cases you are talking about.
Imagine if samplers like Kontakt or sample libraries in general didn't have a way to quickly adjust the overall velocity mapping. Good luck going through each sample individually.

Just wait for the Free version and then cast your unqualified opinion based on (residual?) knowledge you acquired by all those synth you have listed.HTT wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 1:48 amWhat I have is videos. Are those synths videos as well?

I'm not underwhelmed either... Vital does some cool stuff and I am getting result hard to get or not possible in other wavetable synths I have tried. Doesn't mean it replaces them. Just means it has its own value.wombat778 wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 1:58 am I have most of the synths you listed and am not underwhelmed in the slightest. Good that there are lots of synths for different peoples tastes and interests. (Bazille is the best ever!!)

that's multiple people that have admitted they decided it sucks without even trying it.. I really wonder about some people.

This looks REALLY interestingPsuper wrote: Thu Nov 19, 2020 11:28 pm One word for the people thinking about another control surface -- Morph. Course you'll need to roll your own template, but opens up the floodgates for control. Use it for left hand control, not for playing.

While I'm not an educated or experienced sound designer, I find Vital invites and rewards simple experimenting. I have several U-he synths, and maybe it's due to a combo of my small monitor, and Howards great presets, but I'm not too compelled to attempt improving on U-he sounds, when there is always something new uncovered while sound browsing among them.
On my small monitor, the Vital visuals are compelling, and the controls are in my face. I've saved a few sounds for future tuning. The U-he collection, in comparison, is like being beamed aboard a Starship, and handed a schematic that glows in the dark, and a boarding pass that unlocks all the cool rooms
I'm very blessed to have both possibilities.
(I think Santa still has the monitor specs left over from last years (thud...) list
