Or maybe you need to accept that people don't necessarily like the same posts you like? Everyone gets thumbed down from time to time and I don't recall anyone being burned at the stake for a poorly rated forum post.

No, it's like a game around here. Any time some one mentions the thumbs, the "down thumbs" are piled on, I'm just saying, I don't care about that, but I do want to discus the thumb thing, because it really doesn't mean anything at this stage.
I'm not Pettinhouse by the way, I was using it as an example.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even developers get thumbs down when posting good news like new features or updates. Wikipedia says the thumbs up gesture is a sign of contempt or disapproval in certain cultures in the world like Iran and Iraq. KVR is an international music forum, I'd change my perspective and take the thumbs down as a positive.

Once I made a post "I made a walk and had much sun today" and got a thumb-down. Probably someone who hates sun, I dunno.

But in case of sample libraries, I understand it as some people don't like them.

Most interesting thumb-down/-up thing was about the PPG Wave 3, I still don't know if it has more lovers than haters. I'd expect more lovers but in the end I didn't buy it because there are so many better wavetable synths. My deepest respect to Wolfgang Palm for inventing wavetable synthesis but his farewell was a bit grumpy with only a few words of thanks.
