wagtunes,
Glad you are back in the saddle here again. Hope your holidays went OK (mine included some zoom meetings). With your latest song here, it made me feel like I was in a theater (a distant memory). I can almost picture some dancers onstage and multi-colored lights. Sounds nice! :)

Thanks Aaron. Nice to be back. Looking forward to a better 2021.

This is the first actual "song" from Jerry & Company. The lead character is a bit of a nerd so I sang this with my nerdy voice. There are about 9 or 10 characters in this play (script is written) so all the Vocaloids get in on this album. The last song features me doing two parts and all of then together. But that's a long way off.

This song, the lead character wonders when it's going to be his turn to finally get what he wants out of life. It's one of the highlights of the musical. Hope you enjoy it.

2nd track from my upcoming CD "Jerry And Company"

Lyrics:

When Will It Be My Turn

When will it be my turn
When will the sun shine its light down on me
When will my ship sail in from the sea
When will it be my turn

When will it be my time
When will the clock on the wall chime for me
Why is it stuck at quarter past three
When will it be my time

I've waited so long for fortune to come my way
By the time it gets here oh Chuckie I'll be old and gray
So when will it be my turn
When will it be my turn

Instrumental Break

Repeat B Section

When will it be my turn
When will I get a piece of the pie
And will it happen before I die
When will it be my turn

When will it be my turn
When will I get my way
I've been suffering for oh so long
I'm singing this depressing song
When will it be
When will I see
When will it be...my...turn

In the 3 months I've been away, I've finished 4 albums. The first of them was my musical "Jerry And Company". I will be posting a track a day from this musical over the next 17 days. I hope you enjoy it for those who enjoy musicals.

We start with the overture, which includes the music of several of the songs to follow.

Only 4 albums in 3 months!? That is only 16 albums a year! Shame! (Read with an ironic voice).
Now ith an voice full of admiration:
Man, that I call productive. If I get out a track or two per month then this is the maximum I can do by now. I think I have to think about how I can increase my productivity a little ...anyway good your back, Wagtunes.
Now I go and put "thumbs up" on the posts folloing your "I'm back" post, which got thumbs down for whatever obscure reason.

Happy new year!

Thanks Peter. I don't even look at the thumbs ups and downs. Couldn't care less. This is going to be a whole different year for me than in the past. I'm no longer allowing negativity into my life. 3 months away got me here. Best thing I ever did, staying away from this place.

Looking forward to a great 2021.

Welcome back Wags, sounds good to me (obviously I know nothing about musicals..always winds me up -either do a gig, or do a play, but don't try and do both at the same time.... :hihi: ).

4 albums. Think I've cranked out a full 2 songs or something :scared: . But I have managed to change some strings on a few guitars, which is obviously very stressful and required time to recuperate.

Hey DT, thanks for the stop by. It ain't a race. You write when you feel like it. I just happen to feel like it a lot. LOL.

Hope you have a great year.

Welcome back....been away a while myself!

Listened to the Overture:
Definitely has that Broadway / West End vibe down well!

Plenty of textural variety as expected in such endeavours + a fair sprinkling of short, sharp melodic phrases.

It's a bit more Sondheim than Lloyd Webber for me (that's a good thing) with some interesting takes on the typical / expected 'Musical' harmonies. I would've liked it to 'rise and fall' in intensity a little bit more personally, but it's gentle atmosphere does work.

I think the orchestral sounds are a little bit lacking in detail in terms of both articulations and timbral nuance, but that doesn't detract from the musical content.

First Song (when will it be my turn):
Again - you've got the genre nailed...love the gaps in the melodic lines...so often forgotten about and so important. Strong melody throughout...very 'Mary Poppins' in some ways!

Maybe the early accelerando was slightly overdone? Certainly took me by surprise.

Structurally - macro level: spot on. Looking in more depth at the rhythmic and melodic phrases...all very well judged and thought out. Would've loved some backing vocals / chorus moments, but tricky in MIDI I know!

Impressed with the attention to detail!

As always, you're more than welcome to visit my tracks, but do NOT have to at all!

If Morricone's Spg West work is an area you appreciate...feel free:

Otherwise, here's another recent and quite unusual effort based on Dante:

It's an absolute joy to read how you critique a song. It must be a love for you because I can't get that in depth. My head starts to hurt. LOL.

I will absolutely check out your music. Thank you so much for making me aware of these threads.

Hope you have a great 2021.

Did come across an ex student on a forum once many years ago... Eventually lost patience with his BS and trashed him (quite venomously for me) as he was being a total asshole towards others... Didn't realise who he was until afterwards!!! Never liked him anyway when I taught him... Had a nasty streak towards his peers, but maaan did I savage him on that forum😂All perfectly polite but soooo cutting... I nearly feel guilty, but naaaah, not quite! 😭
