I have limited knowledge, but not "very limited" so I asked the question of how to change or control this character using certain settings. For example, 1:1 copied Dune 3 patches in Falcon sounds clear and definitive while the same in Dune - dirtier and more chaotic.
I know how synthesizer modules work and how they're setting up. You are operating with a concept "how can something with so many options have a unchangeable "character", I am operating with personal observation. No more, no less.

I had some similar discussions in the past when I said that I like pluck sounds or supersaws in other synths better. The argumentation was exactly the same as in this case: "You have no idea.", "You don't know how to program synthesizers." etc.
The thing is, arguing like that doesn't make sense at all when I'm perfectly capable of programming nice sounding sounds in other synths.
Anyway, it's pretty pointless in the end. Everyone should use what they feel like. There's lots of soft synths out there.

Initially, the point was to find out if it was possible to set up this synth to sound more focused and round
And, with the help of some opinions and more personal tests, I realized that even if it is possible, it's easier to use another synthesizer. The case closed, thank you!

making false claims is a diff matter, especially when using terms you cannot or won't prove or back up.... snappy, muddy, dirty, and the funniest, chaotic

Ok I got confused by the following statements:
It sounded like you were talking about the raw Oscs which is why I posted the test.Dombaeb wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 6:29 pm I'm pretty sure it's the specific character in Dune oscillators design
If you could post an example of what you mean by "more focused and round" maybe we could help you achieve that sound in Dune 3.Dombaeb wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:49 pm Initially, the point was to find out if it was possible to set up this synth to sound more focused and round
I don't care if anyone dislikes Dune 3 as long as their opinion is not formed on incomplete or incorrect information. I've spent quite lot of time with D3 and if I can help dispel any misconceptions about it then I'm more than willing to do so.

That's exactly how I handle it as well, going the easy way. Anything else, or even discuss about it is a waste of time. Every piece of software is the vision of the people behind it, and that's cool, as a customer, everyone can device for him-/herself.Dombaeb wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:49 pm Initially, the point was to find out if it was possible to set up this synth to sound more focused and roundAnd, with the help of some opinions and more personal tests, I realized that even if it is possible, it's easier to use another synthesizer. 2 totally diff synths.... do they have the same code, same filters, envs and mods etc? no, so it's impossible to copy a sound 1:1Dombaeb wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:36 pm For example, 1:1 copied Dune 3 patches in Falcon sounds clear and definitive while the same in Dune - dirtier and more chaotic.
why not upload this experiment of yours, if anything, it might be a useful study
without audio tho, your words are meaningless

Sorry, I didn't find yet a better solution to attach audio.

For what it is worth..... (and I haven't been following intently along to see what the debate is this moment) but I definitely prefer the Dune version.
Seems to have more character to me (is that what you describe as dirtier and more chaotic?)

I would prefer Dune for some cases too, for industrial sounds, for example (I like it a lot). The whole case is not about which is "better" but about sound characteristics.

thanks....well, thats a very strange sound to use as an example, and the Dune one (when reversed) sound like it has a delay on it....the whole experiment is a bit of a mess....i thought you were looking for clarity in the sound?

Delay, detune and a bit of reverb was used in both cases. As I said, there is no sense to me to compare sawtooth waves without any effects and detune. I made more identical patches with other combinations and made conclusions for myself. The main one - synths really have characters, I didn't give it much thought. Personally, it was very useful for self-educational purposes
