So, you’re really going to claim that, for example a Moog ladder filter is the same an SSM, Curtis, Sallen Key, Steiner Parker, etc? Really?

And, no claiming someone is ignorant based on scientifically objective and verifiable facts is not the same as as saying a movie is boring. Objective (gentle clock divider on the difference between filters) vs subjective (you on liking a movie).

Yeah sure , that's why so many developers try to ge the non linearities right and few succeed
The age of simple 90's bi-quad filters is long past us , but if you can't hear the difference that's good for you :tu:
interesting. but i dont think ya know wha ya talkin' bout
Tell that to somebody like Leonardo Laguna Ruiz (https://www.vult-dsp.com), who builds different filter types on breadboards and then circuit models them with top notch DSP.

There are a dozen of them and the differences are substantial.
Different 'types', yes. But brands are virtually the same. LP can only cut off frequency, it doesn't really have a particular sound compared to other LP filters, at least noticeable enough. It's all clever marketing designed to wet your appetite. Most of the shit we buy we dont use. Why is that? Cause we've been conned.

So when you see some brand saying this filter is classic and modeled on vintage circuitry and all that rubbish, remember it's just a filter and it's function is to cut frequency so the odds of it having a particular sound compared to others is virtually 0.
Dude seriously , the ignorance on showcase here is just astonishing
seriously dude, that's a null statement. It's like saying that movie was boring. How can the movie be boring if it only is to one person. who is the person? is he an authority on films or is he talking shit. if i know this person well, i may be inspired or not to see this film based on my awareness of the personality of him alone. But none of that information is at hand in this case nor has your statement been supported with any resemblance of an argument. thus it must, in the name of logic be rendered false.

What people label as SEM, Curtis or LF today is mostly just the same cheese. That is more than obvious and exceptions are a proof for the rule.

Post

The UAD Moog filters very nice.
Soundtoys also has some excellent filters.

Post

Seriously if some people can't hear the differences between different lp filters then they should just stop posting. (or maybe stop listening with the on-board laptop speakers?)

Love Zebrify...extremely versatile and lovely sound ♥️

You can differ between shades of grey or just pluck the cables in an extend your horizon.

But OK - AAs are different and LPs can be more or less smelly.

Oh look, Kuhnt is trolling again.

Really? Explain why. Explain the scientific evidence that filters will sound different and that equivalence you somebody’s opinion about a movie.

Another boring vote for The Drop here.

I'm starting to feel like one of Pavlov's dogs.

The analogy works best if we say that GCD has already seen the movie - fan of the whole franchise, in fact - whereas Kinh has not seen the movie yet. But maybe Kinh doesn't care about that franchise - for whatever reason, he really doesn't want to see any of them.

Just static filters to demonstrate some of the lovely distortion found in The Drop: https://unaspectedstudios.com/sharing/T ... Zon01A.mp3

909 (Drumazon) with some compression and reverb.

First four bars (Intro loop) - Next four (VPRE-31A) - Next four (The Drop) - (Fade out over four bars).

Post

Kinh has said all LP filters sound the same so I'd probably be more likely to listen to his opinion on films than on which filter to use.

seriously, if you wanna go on believing all vst filters sound completely different, it's your choice. Whatever inspiration you need to spend $$$ on...nothing. Your spending sprees dont affect me. Ive tried many of the filters mentioned and they're all the same + I think I know a thing or two about the subject based on my experience. The subtle differences in tone are virtually 0. But, if you know better...

Anyway have fun spending ya money! :D

Kinh, which Toy Story film do you think is the best?
