Have yet to try Hive 2.1, I just downloaded it. Thank you in advance! Looking forward to trying the new presets.

edit: Is it better to do a clean install?
There is usually no need to do a clean install, unless you are experiencing any kind of weird issues.
If you are on Windows, just keep an eye on the suggested installation paths, to make sure it installs in the same locations as the last version.

Thanks, the basic idea is actually the same! I have to admit I always thought Omnisphere's Sound Match works by comparing the actual patch parameters (since it works so well), but it is based on tags after all. I think the biggest difference is that Omnisphere does some kind of fuzzy search, so you always get a lot of results, with the best matches (most similar tags) on top. In Hive, after trying this for a few patches, I usually only get a few results, after which I can of course edit the search as you suggested. Anyway, I might have not used Hive's browser to its full potential yet, so time to do some learning...

Is it just me or is Asio4All hit pretty hard by the new filters? I usually don't use Asio drivers but I just switched to it by chance and noticed that my CPU was being clotheslined.

It's not just kind of true-it's true! Anyway,I didn't look at the news page and wasn't referring to it. I looked at the front page splash about Hive 2.1 update and it's not anywhere on there.I would suggest that it shouldn't "go without saying" as surely most users aren't on here and wouldn't know. Just a line of text after the modern processors like Sandy Bridge would be the minimum info.

Sure, we'll add that to our next website update.

Congratulations on the release but the mouse scroll direction is still the incorrect direction on Windows in the preset browser. Pretty pretty pretty please, fix this for us! :)

Hi and thx for the update :) Are there any known issues regarding a sluggish UI on Win10 in StudioOne1 5? Somehow the last Hive2 version works very smooth but with this version I get hangs in between and sometimes framerate drops down to (feels like) 5 FPS or so.

Post

we haven't changed anything re. UI on Windows.

Hi there,

Guys, can we all just take a moment to appreciate this dude's work ethics ?

In a world where any "big names" in the audio industry are going Subscription models, or iLok protections, or "fake-major-versions-charged-insane-prices-to-existing-customers", or "tiny-interface-on-my-sampler-software-that-is-never-going-to-be-updated-for-retina-displays-despite-being-a-priority-feature-asked-by-customers-for-years-now" kind of things, Mr Heckmann keeps working in the strict interests of his customers.

I mean... seriously : Apple Silicon native compatibilty (where "big names" are still making us waiting for that and I guess the wait will continue for months...), new filters, 100 new presets, new theme, new modulation models... for free ??? Who else is doing things like that in the audio industry nowadays ?

I tried to find a Donation widget on the Hive's page, because I would have liked to pay something for this update. (And as I didn't find it, I think I'm about to buy Colour Copy, as a revenge :D )

Over the years, I bought nearly all of Urs's piece of synth (except for ACE, but don't blame me : I got Bazille :D ) just because they are sounding fantastic, with sleek design and great functionalities. And as a customer, I really feel there is someone behind the wheel on the other side, who's keeping the good work and updates for each and every soft that's going out. And there's no plenty of other software companies that make me feel so excited to spend my money. :D I own, of course, a lot of great-sounding virtual synths from other companies, but as far as I'm concerned, buying and discovering a new software by u-he, is definitely something special. I can't wait for Zebra 3.

So again, Thank you, Urs, for that. You're a gift to any musician (or at least, to the knob-tweeking-electro-geeks-psychopaths craving for the real big rich and warm analog sound we can get from a Diva :D ).

Don't think I would agree with your description of the overall situation and the praise. They follow the money on either side and it's not Mr Heckmann alone, but a team of devs. So do the big names have reasons not to dive head over heels in new territory. Still appreciate the update of course.

Of course they do. Can you name a single commercial company that's not aiming at doing commercial benefits ? Personnaly I can't :D. But when in the same time, you satisfy your customers, it's better than when you don't :D

Apologies for my off-topic posts. I'm stopping here. These were my very first posts on KVR, and I wanted to do this for a while :)

Hive 2.1 - new filters, uhm wavetables and pitch quantized modulation... this would have been unimaginable in the first release of Hive. Hive is vastly more sonically diverse yet still fast and easy to use!
