Zebra2 is super cool for what it does. But when you need a supersaw or anything super modern, go Hive2. .
Dude please , stop it already !
Give me one example of your supermodern sound which you think is not achievable with zebra ( exluding granular + sampling )
OK, this is the exact file I already posted when we had this talk a few months ago.
(no external processing)

Here's my attempt at it:

I don't usually do these types of open supersaws and I agree that other synths like Serum or Avenger will probably do this faster and better but I still wanted to give it a try in Zebra since it's such a versatile tool.

I used three instances of ZebraHZ with three osc each, all of them with eleven voices and then put a Zebrify with a Comp and some NuVerb on the mix bus to glue the layers a bit more. The file plays the instances all together at first and then goes on to play them individually. I can't tell if it's "modern" enough (don't listen to that much KSHMR or similar) but it doesn't sound bad to me.

There is NO vaccine for a hardware virus. . Those viruses are not only hardcore but also Vital for infectious dance music.. there ain't no serum powerfull enough to withstand a access virus .. :-D

And btw : there is absolutely no phaser anywhere. :D
My examples are from two different synths, SynthA and SynthB. One of them is Zebra (I have HZ, but chose to use the regular version). For now I won't say which it is, nor the identity of the other synth. There is a Dry version of each, and a Wet version (uses their internal FX only, a delay and light compression). I didn't slam the volume on these, so portions won't be too loud. I added a filter rise/fall via Modwheel as well.

I didn't try to replicate your sound. Instead, I referenced a sound I had made with the unnamed synth, which in turn was based off a preset I had come across when demoing Dune (I don't have a license for Dune, and to be clear, the unnamed synth is not Dune). I probably could have matched them closer than they are, but I've reached the amount of time I'm willing to spend for now.

^Well done. I have no clue which is which or what the other synth is. Sounds good.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

zebra is great for FM and wavefolding and has pretty great filters.

I do often reach for bazille, repro, ace, diva, or hive instead because the blank slate of an empty zebra 2 patch just doesn't seem to inspire my tinkering the same way, but zebra is definitely the strong one of the bunch if you already have an idea and want the flexibility to implement it.

@ KBSoundSmith:
I guess SynthB is Zebra. Just a guess because I feel it less "wooshy"! (is that a word even! :hihi: )

Post

I'd actually say Synth A is Zebra. You're right about synth B being less "wooshy", BTW. Not as busy, fizzy and noisy.

Could be wrong of course. Last time I tried Zebra (CM) was more than 5 years ago.

I would have taken a guess on the second synth too, if it was a either this or that case. But, considering that there's a gazillion of soft synths, I really don't want to do the guess work. I have a feeling what it is, but, I rather wait for the conclusion. :P

Forgot to mention that even if it ain’t for me, I really like its concept as a one synth workhorse, and the way its modular design supports it. In a world with only Zebra 2 and Synthmaster as workhorses, I’d ride the Zebra.

Ouch... they sound so powerless with that endless release and this lack of high frequencies... Why this ridiculous ADSR filter that kills all the power ? Sounds like an intro now...

The worst is B for sure. No high frequencies at all, all muffled and sounds like there is an all pass on it, no transients attack at all.
Please don’t read the above post. It’s a stupid one. Simply pass.
