The Grid is pretty amazing among other things, but beyond that. I notoriously skip whole versions of things. I stopped using Logic around v8 until v10, which is about ten years. I jumped from Reason 2.5 to Reason 11. From DP 2.7 to 5 to 7. Live is the only DAW I own that I've upgraded consistently, and that's gonna change probably now that I'm on the Bitwig train. If it's not my main squeeze DAW I don't upgrade every version, and if it is my main squeeze DAW I wait a few months after an upgrade to make it not just a test for a new song or so.T71 wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 6:44 am At this rate I'll likely skip V3 completely. Step up your game, Bitwig devs!![]()

On a different level though, they're a tiny company Bitwig, and I think they're doing the right things for the most part. I like to support smaller companies. I've given enough money to the NI, Apple, IK, Ableton crowd, and I do feel even more so than Bitwig, Ableton really thinks they're on the whole Apple tip of "showing the customers what they want" instead of listening to what the customers want. That's their decision, and it's my decision to use a similar DAW that actually has a full screen edit window, and more than a dozen keyboard shortcuts.
Plus I'm betting we're getting close to some major feature announcements. The versions rolling out are all bug fixes for the most part.

I'm out since v3.2.3 or something, October last year, I think. Both statemens above could be wrong
Anyway, waiting for the 4.0 release to activate my "support" license again with the code I bought 2 years ago. I hope it doesn't run invalid after 1+ years.

I'm have never really got why you would open a whole DAW in another DAW, like with FL Studio. With MASCHINE it makes a little more sense since it doubles as an MPC, more or less. Reason on the other hand, just taking the rack part, is completely genious.machinesworking wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 4:54 amI'm hoping for a VST3 plug in version like FL Studio or Reason, that, would be the best!![]()

It’s something I do, since FL plug-ins went native only and the all plug in edition went to around 300 quid it could be considered as an entire ecosystem like Reason Studio and the plug in version is essentially Reason Rack.starflakeprj wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 8:07 amI'm have never really got why you would open a whole DAW in another DAW, like with FL Studio. I record a lot of bands and I wouldn’t use Bitwig for this, Studio one is my tool if I am working with predominantly live instruments (often no midi) but if Bitwig was a plug in you would still have access to Bitwig instruments and grid creations.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I think you kinda answered it with Machine and Reason.starflakeprj wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 8:07 am I'm have never really got why you would open a whole DAW in another DAW, like with FL Studio. Imagine if you will an old school DAW with VCA faders, comping, SysEx, movie hosting and sync features, score editing, designed with big templates in mind, etc... hosting Bitwig with it's modulation system, drum machine etc. and the Grid, alongside Reason Rack.
It would probably cripple any modern computer under $5K but I still want that set up, because I'm a power hungry slob.

I'm using Studio One primarily as my DAW, while Reason and Bitwig are more my secondary ones, so IF I would find a useful scope of use for Bitwig within Studio One, it could be interesting, but I'm having a hard time visualizing it. Reason Rack makes more sense, but if Bitwig could release the "bottom lane" (don't remember if it has a name?machinesworking wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 8:17 amI think you kinda answered it with Machine and Reason.starflakeprj wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 8:07 am I'm have never really got why you would open a whole DAW in another DAW, like with FL Studio. While thinking about all this marketing stuff ... it's interesting to see that Bitwig is still niche only and does not gain considerable tracktion in comparison to competitors according to google trends: https://trends.google.de/trends/explore ... ton%20Live
That get's my worried about the future in an economic environment which is often in a "grow or out" mode. red - Cubase, yellow - Ableton Live, blue - Bitwig
If I would add muLab as a example for a niche product it's at the same flat line level as bitwig, at least in this coarse grained view.

So this graph shows what people are searching on in the Google search engine? It is, obviously, and I am more surprised than worried. What's even more surprising is that even removing "Studio" only searching for Bitwig doesn't change much.] Peter:H [ wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 8:59 am While thinking about all this marketing stuff ... it's interesting to see that Bitwig is still niche only and does not gain considerable tracktion in comparison to competitors according to google trends: https://trends.google.de/trends/explore ... ton%20Live

Anyway, searching isn't necessary equal to being interested of buying. I'm pretty that even though FL Studio owns the numbers of searches, most of their copies all over the world are probable not licensed copies.

Are you sure? Tiobe does the Programming Language Charts based on searches as well as other indidcators ... I think we cannot add "bitwig job offers" here, but still we have the "search thing". And in terms of "importance" it's not relevant whether the licenses are bought or not ... if the community is big enough it get's and keeps tracktion and adds to growing a topic/product. Because customers that consider buying a DAW will surely look into how big is this and will I get community support ... https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/starflakeprj wrote: Sun May 09, 2021 9:14 amAnyway, searching isn't necessary equal to being interested of buying. Let's turn this positive - What can we do to spread the word? I have a big interest in BItwig growing and prosper, because I love Bitwig already and I love the mindset of the people behind it.
BTW: Interesting to add "FL Studio" to the google trends as well...

We can't do nothing. If they want bw to grow they need to make it more appealing to more users. I'm not going to throw money at them just because they are a small team of nice guys. It's about the tool, not charity. If it works for me, i'll buy. if it doesn't i won't buy. obviously, the tool, as it is right now, doesn't appeal to a lot of people. only a small percentage seem to love it as is. and if that's ok for bw team, cool, it's their business. i don't care, if bw is not working for me, i'll skip it and use the other tools that work.
