I'm sure that'll happen in the process of moving from eLicenser to their new system. Although "drama free" is subjective, of course.

I mistakenly said Trip and Trium are in Halion - they're not.

Trium, which is one of the VA types I mentioned isn't in Halion, it's only in Absolute.
And Trip - another one I mentioned as a VA I liked is only in Cubase.
Neither one of those is in Halion. Voltage is in Halion though.

Yes, at no time did I suggest that Retrologue is a part of Halion. What is a part of Halion is the same VA technology that is used in Retrologue. Halion doesn't contain any better VA elements than are in Steinberg's best VA synth.

Those are both just Halion instruments built with the basic components in Halion. It's just a rearrangement of the same components that you can use to build your own synth in Halion.

I don't think that any of the synths that are bundled with and built with Halion can compete with Pigments in really any way. Using Halion Sonic SE instruments isn't what I'm talking about when I refer to Halion as being a migraine. I'm talking about building something quickly in a similarly flexible way that you can in Pigments. Selecting several interesting sound sources and combining them with filters and effects of your choosing and then adjusting the modulation, this can be done in Halion, it's just not easy like it is in Pigments.

What genres have you found this synth works best for? Is it valuable to people who write heavier bass music?

Judging from the presets, Pigments is not for bass heavy music. But I haven't tried myself to tweak or make a bass preset yet

With three osc in the va section, you can make as many three octaved fat minimoog basses that you like. I just made a couple myself. Or just heavy two octaved. You can do the same on Pigment as you can with the mini and many others. You can vary with the digital oscs. Endless possibilities.

I agree, and I've said so earlier in the thread. Pigments is quick and easy to get around, and to get good sounds from. I haven't fully explored it yet, but I think it's one of the better soft synth purchases I've made. Inspiring stuff.

Yep, compared to Warlock, Vital, Go2, ANA2 and even Hive2. IMO they lack the organic sound quality I appreciate so much in Pigments 3, as if they answer to a different sound directive related to (hyper)saw origins or harsh sonic fx treatment. It’s certainly a matter of taste and musical preference (or even GUI).

From the company that kills VST2 rather than make it open source, I doubt it...

Open sourcing of vst2 would completely by suicidal and antithetical for their efforts to move everyone to vst3.

How would you guys compare pigments 3 to hydrasynth? Both seem to offer a lot of modulation capabilities and synth engines.
