Hi,

I am considering Mdrummer and I am checking the demo right now but I did not see anything about polyrythm. Is this possible.

How are the experiences with the auto generated rhtyhms by the way is this usefull or not.

The main reason I want it is the auto generate rhythms and the euclidean feature.

Thanks,

Martijn

Hi Martijn,

If you mean polyrhythms like "not having the same signature as the DAW", then I'm MDrummer cannot do that. You can however do that using a song tab and then dragging the performance as MIDI to the host. But in general MDrummer requires to be in sync with the host, so the rhythms being played need to be at the actual signature. You can still change signatures throughout the song, but at each moment the rhtyhms being played must match the DAW.

Thanks for the answer. Not sure if we understand each other but I mean the function used in Gheist. In this supershort video it is showed

If this function is in Mdrummer that would be great and for me a reason to buy it. If not will this be implemented in a newer version.

Thanks for your time.

Martijn

That feature is great.

All the creative possibilities that can be included into a drum machine.

I'm afraid that's a negative folks, sorry. MDrummer just doesn't work the way this would ever be possible.

Actually, here's a video which shows how you can make Euclidean Rhythms in MDrummer:

Thanks I've seen this but it's not so intuitive.

Actually it is VERY easy to achieve with MDrummer.

All you have to do is take advantage of channels. You can have one channel with X beats per bar, and then on another channel have Y beats per bar.

Combine these channels in the song editor and your polyrhytm is done.

MDrummer is WAY more powerful than any other drum machine on the market. The end.

It has been so for the last decade, but it has also been the producer's best kept secret because it doesn't have pretty pictures of drums. The only thing it was truly lacking was a massively library that the likes of BFD and SD3 have. Melda fixed that in 2018 with their 18GB library which is bundled. Add this to the smaller bundles of previous years. This is a better deal than toontrack. And if that wasn't enough, it has an import tool to scour your collection for single hits. Although this needs to be applied with some decent intention rather than with a spamming/hoarding mentality.

Then there is almost the entire suite of Melda audio FX plugins available at the insert/send level (full featured internal mixer with bussing et al). This alone makes MDrummer a no-brainer.

Yes, the randomisation is extremely useful. As with anything, it's only as useful as your skills allow it to be. I have tried it with odd meter time signature and it works great.

With MDrummer, you have zero excuses. Making rhthms is up to youy.

The only thing lacking with MDrummer is a big library of community tutorials.

For example, nobody has done a tutorial on how to create cool recipied with plugins like MRhythmizer on the inserts inside MDrummer. The possibilities are stypifying. Not to mention that each instrument can contain Sampler, Multisampler, and Synth. It's incredible. I don't think any other drum machine has as many ways to build a drum/instrument.

All the more reasons why MDrummer, the full version, belongs inside MSF, just like MXXX, MPS, and MSF itself, as a loadable instrument on the FX grid. How cool would THAT be!?

Excellent video, btw… Thanks!

I'm gonna hook into producing some video tutorials of my own.

I couldn't find this anywhere, but how can you get rhythm in two different time signatures in two different channels to switch correctly?

I have this song alternating between 7/4 and 4/4, and to get the two channel system to switch correctly, switch has to be at minimum after 7 bars of 4/4 so 7/4 starts right when previous loop ends. Next possible switch is only after 14 bars, then 21 etc... basic math.

What if I want only two bars of 7/4 in the middle of 4/4 passage?
