So I hope you're right about this, but this bug seems to be pretty old, if it is in fact a bug that Bitwig prompted me for a serial a few times when I first authorized it about a year ago, then when this outage happened did so again.. There was kind of a perfect storm. A major internet outage at a very major cloud company (Fastly). Plus a bug that caused the activated running Bitwig apps to deactivate while running. The fastly outage wouldn't have caused the whole problem, a bug in Bitwig also caused this.
Support told me they're removing this offending code and this WILL NOT Happen again, even if their cloud services go down.
If the WholeDamnBitwigCloud is down, my understanding is you can't activate a new copy but once a copy is activated it should work without any internet connection needed and without any login prompt at startup of bitwig.
All that said, it still only has one of my two authorizations listed in my profile at bitwig.com, and it thinks I registered in 2014, more like late 2019. It seems a really weird area of their website and general coding to not have locked down?
