Offline rendering issue / warning

Another issue that is not widely known (I think) and easily can ruin a bounce...

Bitwig does NOT support plugins that have offline rendering oversampling modes. The issue is that it doesn't correctly report latency while using those modes.

It's fine if you only use them on the master track. But if you have this mode active on plugins on TRACKS then you will likely end up with really bad timing and phasing issues.

Be careful.
Hope Bitwig devs take this seriously and fixes it.

What do you mean with offline rendering?

Post

i dont want to act like a troll...

but dunno wtf you speak about :

bitwig.exe is program
plugin64.dll is plugins link... to internet...

...

???

=> if i use Bitwig, he notify me like when there's an update for a plugin....

Post

it's not Plugin-latency-compensation ? (if u r online or offline....) :)))))

I assumed they meant "not realtime", but I had not heard it call "offline" before either. So I'm just guessing.

Post

Some DAWs refers export-time rendering as offline rendering.

Sounds like those plugin's fault? It would be helpful to get a list of those plugins so others can be aware of them

Post

ok some strange replies to my original message, but hopefully most people understood what I was talking about.

In some plugins you can select oversampling/quality that is different in rendering bounce compared to real time.

Here is a list of the ones I own...there are no-doubt many more.

DMG Track Comp
Soothe
All Voxengio Plugins
All TDK plugins (slickEqM / Kotenkov etc)
Kclip/True Dynamics (Kazrog plugins)
Leapwing (Dynone)
Tb Audio Dseq3

Post

Voxgengo and TDR? Wow gotta check them for myself too.
I always had mere "feeling" that something's a bit off when I exported songs. Thanks for the list

when you bounce you must set 24-bit...

That's not true. Sample format has nothing to do with latency.

Post

it's like you use a 8-bit VSTi coded to 8 bit....

> on your OUTs u will have a 8bit VSTi (sound) NOT upped to 24bit,

if your VSTi has 64 bits, it will be internally-in-plugin threaten as 64 bit, & maybe Bitwig Studio will translate down to 24 bits. (or 32...)

dunno if i'm wrong ??

which latency ? i dont understand .

Post

you'r saying OVERSAMPLING in the VST/i adds latency ??

Post

Seems like you are confused with sample format(16bit int, 24bit int, 32bit float, 64bit float...) and processor architecture (32bit system vs 64bit system)

Since we are talking about technical issues, you might wanna do some own research before jumping into discussion.
