I'd be astonished if Ableton weren't developing a new Push with MPE.

i won't be astonished. MPE is still a nice, and people who buy a MPE controller, not all get used to it. so...Double Tap wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 1:55 pm I'd be astonished if Ableton weren't developing a new Push with MPE.
poly aftertouch, and can the touchfader do something like slide???
i have MPE controllers (all Roli blocks..), so i use MPE, but it is quite nice to already have poly aftertouch on a Push 2, and who will use it, really use it, yes perhaps quit a lot, but relative to all users, even in this case -it is speculation, not based on evidence- i think poly aftertouch will not used a lot..
i even doubt aftertouch, so what is called channel aftertouch, aftertouch that effects all keys at once, is used a lot. (before MPE, and still, i use it quite a lot, it is so nice, and with MPE controllers, you can set to them to poly aftertouch, a not-MPE mode, so you can play a CS-80 emu as it should, because only then it can sound like a CS-80....)

They have lot of work to do with Live first- a great deal of instruments/pre-sets don't even have basic expression like after touch assigned!Double Tap wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 1:55 pm I'd be astonished if Ableton weren't developing a new Push with MPE.
There is MPE and more importantly Midi 2...lots of possibilities for new controllers, but no one has really managed anything yet that is remotely mainstream
They should take their time and perhaps concentrate on Midi 2 which has many tangible benefits to everyone even for knob resolution and velocity sensitivity...

Hope they won't bother. I think Expression Control and MPE Control devices added in v11 cover that pretty well (like Expressions modulator in Bitwig, basically):SLiC wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 2:31 pmThey have lot of work to do with Live first- a great deal of instruments/pre-sets don't even have basic expression like after touch assigned!

Push 2 is quite a few years old, IIRC, I wouldnt buy it now now just because I think there will be something new on the (near?) horizon.
Also I do have some hopes for either MPE or standalone, or both

Weird they still have not added an icon/button to mark track(s) with comping content...SLiC wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 7:35 pm That’s a massive release full of little fixes and tweaks…good one to get out of the way….

Can you really not remember which tracks you comped on?antic604 wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 8:53 pmWeird they still have not added an icon/button to mark track(s) with comping content...SLiC wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 7:35 pm That’s a massive release full of little fixes and tweaks…good one to get out of the way….

Also, why not apply the same "logic" to tracks linked for editing? Surely one can remember those, too?

Totally agree, a track containing comp tracks is no different to a group track in my opinion and there should be some indication….it can’t be hard to do!antic604 wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 8:53 pmWeird they still have not added an icon/button to mark track(s) with comping content...SLiC wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 7:35 pm That’s a massive release full of little fixes and tweaks…good one to get out of the way….

Midi 2 would be far more useful to most than MPE I think (higher resolution, more bi-directional control, more sensitivity etc) , although they are not mutually exclusive, so I would expect any major new controller to be both Midi 2 and a bit more MPE (we already have polyphonic expression, so I am not sure about slide etc I wouldn't personally like it if it ended up like the Linntrument just to get slide....)Double Tap wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 1:55 pm I'd be astonished if Ableton weren't developing a new Push with MPE.
I haven't had my PUSH 2 for that long but am not at all concerned about a new PUSH- It will happen at some point, it will be expensive and hard to get at first, I will wait reviews, bug fixes and price drop after 6 months. If eventually I think it is a worthwhile update I will sell my PUSH 2 and buy one...I am not 'waiting' on the off chance...could even be an upgrade I don't even need like built in I/O...

No improvement in performance on apple silicon chips. The worst performing DAW on apple silicon processors, by now.
It performs ok for small projects thought.

Yup, definitely worth switching to PC for the best performance, you can have more than 16gb RAM as wellSerhii Kot wrote: Wed Jul 14, 2021 9:34 am No improvement in performance on apple silicon chips. The worst performing DAW on apple silicon processors, by now.
