My issue with Melda has always been his insistence on dumping tons of files all over your hard drives even when just installing a few of the plugins.
This morning I ran their installer which does allow you to choose the plugins you want to install but still installs files for every one of their plugins in mutliple locations.
I only installed MReverb, MSpectral Delay and MDynamic EQ on my D: drive but had 460 megs of files dumped on my small SSD C: drive most of which have nothing to do with the plugins I installed. Very sloppy and disrespectful of the user's system.
Over 3,200 files and that's just the C: drive no telling what he dumped on the D: drive as well...

I'm not sure but the reason for this might be that all the Melda plugins share the same kernel.Teksonik wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:06 pm My issue with Melda has always been his insistence on dumping tons of files all over your hard drives even when just installing a few of the plugins.

Yes I understand Melda plugins have a "shell" similar in concept to Waves plugins but that doesn't explain why he needs to install preset files for plugins that weren't installed and many of them are duplicates in two different locations. This is just small sample:AGIGA wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:29 pm I'm not sure but the reason for this might be that all the Melda plugins share the same kernel.

I brought this up to him years ago and his response was "it's simpler for him that way".
Installing 3200 files and over 460 megs of data for three FX plugins is just sloppy and lazy programming in my opinion.
It's the reason I haven't bought anything from him since 2009 and why I've never installed MReverb on my studio computer. I just got MDynamic EQ free with a purchase at Plugin Boutique so thought I would install on this system just to see if his installer still pukes files all over the place.
I don't know if I want to install all that crap on my studio system just for three plugins.
Anyway the thread title asks why no love for MReverb. This is why no love from me......

It's an issue of focus on GUI assets and presets, both of which may be in an inefficient format. So you have these users who are obsessed with the idea "lots of presets = good, too many presets to count = best godlike uberpower!" They also tend toward the same thing with their finicky opinions about GUI aesthetics.Teksonik wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:22 am I brought this up to him years ago and his response was "it's simpler for him that way".

So as a result of that combination of "moar = bettar~!!!!" with "you don't know what you're talking about, shove this in your mouth/ears/eyes and shut up" you get a ton of presets and different GUIs. The assets required add up to a lot.
Now of course some users (meselfing, maybe yous) don't give a crap about any of that junk. Then again one person's garbage is another's treasure. Right? Well, one might hope for such when being a junk dealer.
Rambling ahead, beware;
If you think about it from a technical perspective the only reasonable solution would be:
- A simple system distributed in a single solid chunk regardless of assets utilized or required.
- A complex distribution system where each set of assets has a multi-dimensional dependency tree which uses an online distribution platform to dynamically pull assets as required.

I have no issue with the universal download - its a bit of a drag but not truly annoying. But I find the automation system really difficult and unintuitive. I dont use my Melda plugins all that often and I find that when I do I have to relearn how the automation works. That is not the case with lots of other plugins so for me there is a usability problem with automation that leads me not to use the plugins. Of course if I was using them all the time then I would reinforce my learning through repetition and automation would be a breeze - but that aint the case.
