I don't see any open tickets relating to Presswerk and third party GUI design in our support system.
It seems your request didn't reach us at all. Maybe try again.
the hell, it's under drafts :x :dog:
i wrote the mail then never sent it but my brain told me i did.
I sent it now. Thanks a lot, and sorry for the false alarm - i'll edit my posts for any future reference because u-he support has always been stellar

@flechtwerk: Could you please check Dark Mode again? I don't think that it looks alright. What about the MIDI button, for example? Or the BROWSE button?

I investigated into this, and some (if not all) of the PNG files in the ANIMATIONS folder seem to be corrupt. For instance, I tried using these knobs in another u-he synth - it gives you exactly the same result (green elliptical shapes).

To solve this: When you open any of the PNG files in question in a graphics editing programme and use the SAVE AS PNG option you should be fine. Of course, doing this for all the knob files is tedious.
FYI: I tried this in Affinity, using the batch processing option - that does NOT work.

@Ploki: Could you please have a look at this, resaving the single PNG files?
I would like to say that both the Nitro skins look great (at least in the pictures you are showing here). So kudos for your ideas and work!
could you send over the re-saved file?
i'm in contact with u-he support and we're trying to figure out what's going on

hey could you guys try the 16bit export?
https://we.tl/t-hQBPIcHqUk
(this is only the Dark version, i'll re-export both if it works fine)
it's a bit larger in size, gradients are a tad smoother.

The dark mode always worked. The issue was only ever with the light mode.

That’s even more bizarre (they branch from identical project) i’ll post 16bit light as soon as i get back

This one just completely crashes Reaper when I load it. So yeah...not better.

I have no idea what's wrong. You using any weird settings for the .png export? I don't even think there are any. I'd definitely suggest going back and undoing whatever you just did though.

EDIT: there's new versions of the Affinity suite out. Maybe go back to the non-16 bit export and try again in the newer versions.

Apparently ImageMagick automatically converts sRGB colorspace to greyscale if there's no colour present in the images, so when i used it to split images into single animation frames, it converted them to Greyscale.
I've put a bypass into the script so all images are not 8-bit sRGB.
Works here fine (but then again, both 16bit and greyscale did :D)

Hi Ploki,
I was just about to send my re-saved images to you when I read this and tried this latest version.
And what shall I say: That's it! Now everything looks the way it is suppoed to be! :)
Tested the skin in Cubase, NanoHost and Unify.
Well done and thank you for your work and for sharing! :tu:

Can confirm. Both are working now.

If you're open to feedback:

1. I think it would make sense to the keep the Easy Mode/Main View switch in the same place on the GUI. It throws me off that it moves around.

2. Same for the label.

3. Speaking of the label, the first time I used it, the text was black, making it impossible to read but after going back to it, the text was white. Not sure what that was about. But will let you know if I see it again.

4. In general, I think the dark mode could use a tad more contrast. Some of the labels are quite dark, the black text in some spots is near impossible to see (MIDI, plugin type/version/build, gear icon). Some the knobs are basically the same color as the background in the bottom section so they blend in a little too well. You could try slightly lighter knobs or a lighter background. I'd also consider making the knob position indicators a bit bigger (or a tiny bit brighter) in the bottom section.

5. Those knob indicators being a tad bit brighter would help in the light skin too - just the bottom section knobs.

Really nice job with this!

I am open to feedback, and i think it's good feedback, i'll try to implement.
Dark mode really only works when its pitchblack out and you have full brightness of your screen exploding in your face

and thank you :)

Related story...

I used to think every dark GUI was way too dark and way too lacking in contrast...like there were some impossibly bad GUI decisions being made by some people who really should've known better. Then I realized that I had never calibrated my monitor after my PC rebuild a few months back. The monitor's gamma setting was at too dark. Whoops! Timeless 3 was the plugin that made me realize it. There's some dark, small text on that GUI, but I couldn't believe they'd intentionally make it as hard to read as it was. I could barely make it out at all from 2 ft away and I've got good vision. Turns out it was partially my fault. Now, I'll still argue that the text in some spots is still small and dark, but not as bad as it was on first impression.

But that's the thing with dark GUI's, if you do dark-ish text on a dark background, the monitor calibration being slightly off or the room lighting, time of day, can all make a huge difference. It's a fine line between dark and too dark.
