I really really love how easy it is to record modulations right on the grain parameters and sample range controls in the interface. Records your mouse movements within the interface. Workflow with this interface makes such a difference in quickly coming up with super interesting motion patterns for the parameters. The interface is so well thought out and implemented for adding motion. Just really clean and simple and intuitively playable. Kinda have to have hands on to see how easy it is.WasteLand wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 1:31 pmGrain, of course, great granular like Spacecraft. Granite and Portal i don't have. Portal i see the attraction, but in Granite, i don't see it. why?? o well..killmaster wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:30 am Grain, Granite, Portal (desktop) and Spacecraft and Borderlands Granular (IOS) come to mind first.

I love Padshop and Crusher-X.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

thanks! i read the website better yesterday, and you confirm, even better than the website, what the very strong point of Granite is.killmaster wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 9:14 pmI really really love how easy it is to record modulations right on the grain parameters and sample range controls in the interface. also interesting for others, i believe.
Granurise can also work with 'record modulation', it is called gestures in that case. for most of the parameters and morphing and snapshots. pitch curves, for the 16 grains, or pan curves..
and of course the playhead. but isn't a VST, it works standalone with MAX (free version works), and as a M4L device.
it is indeed a special workflow, that will create other kind of results.
makes it indeed interesting.
again thanks. this kind of information is really helpfull.

it is a part of Reason. and has quite some options. not to be underestimated.
many great granular vst's, M4L devices (samsara... for instance, so many others..), and effect plugins.

I went through the entire thread...
Native Instruments Form did get a mention earlier in the thread, but since many of you might have Komplete, then you might have forgotten about it.
Parawave Rapid also got a fairly recent update and a granular engine added.

I read up on Form and Skanner XT, and I'm still wondering if these can really be called granular synthesizers. Don't they just do wavescanning? I'm not sure...egbert101 wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:23 am Native Instruments Form did get a mention earlier in the thread, but since many of you might have Komplete, then you might have forgotten about it.

So glad it was helpful! Another instrument I love that records movements and also has XY pads that record in much the same way is the granular sampler Vectorspace for Reaktor. It is really a unique and very playable instrument in it's design in much the same way as Granite. It has not been update in a very long time but the last time I loaded it, it seemed to work well. (I think in Big Sur). It's a gem:WasteLand wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:06 amthanks! i read the website better yesterday, and you confirm, even better than the website, what the very strong point of Granite is.killmaster wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 9:14 pmI really really love how easy it is to record modulations right on the grain parameters and sample range controls in the interface. yes XY pads seem to be sometimes overlooked for their possibilites, the one in Blade 2 (and i like to use Blade 2 as a source for.. granular. additive + granular, works great..) for example.killmaster wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:43 amSo glad it was helpful! and recently bought one, a module, for Voltage Modular. i knew it was there, but sometimes, you forget, in certain enviromnents, the use of gestures. automated/recorded.
or record modulation, you see it sometimes, but my memory at this moment...
that is why like Granurise, i have also a touchscreen, and Granurise is made for touchscreen (or has a great touchscreen mode... the developer focus is on the touchscreen, and roli blocks...).
for me Granite, well i have Granurise... but personal of course, Granurise is very good, but i can get why you will buy Granite.
o wow that Vectorspace ensemble! i have a plugin stop!! o well, i can wait...
a resonator! with partials... strange, i want to learn more about resonators, and discovered, that they come in different forms, completely different forms. this one is more a modal one, or that is what melda calls it. but that is another subject.
i hope it can react to touchscreen, Vectorspace. i shall make a "wishlist", the plugin stop is more; 1 plugin per month.. instead of... well.... let's say i spend a lot in 1 1/2 year, and before that i was already spending a lot... and a new canvas (studio pc)... well enough to play around with...
but this one gets me...
thanks for the link to Vectorspace, again, Reaktor is independent of OS (MAX can be dependent, if a developer chooses to implement 'some stuff'), so it must still work.
it reminds me slightly of Delta-V-Audio Spacecraft, but it's design is different and not really gestures, although it reacts to toucscreen, and with automation on....
great granulars are out there...

I tried practically every vst capable granular instruments and effect existing except crusher-x and Padshop.
But only two granulars stayed with me:
Grainstream and the Granular by Melda
But my favorites are Max4Live ones
Granulator by Henke and Lambda (forgot the devs name)
