what's the \ and \\ in your FX chains? some kind of gain or meter plugin?

what's your MIDI setup like? looks like you're treating VST instruments a bit like hardware and just recording their audio output, tape-machine style?
no problem.

the workflow changes depending on the project i'm doing. but right now i run Renoise as a 4-track midi sequencer and do all the composition there, and then mix and record the output of each instrument to audio in reaper. Instrument 1 in Renoise is set to MIDI channel 1 which correlates to "1 - OPS7" in reaper and so on. I don't use Rewire with renoise, as i had issue with latency, but i have no reason to sync anything anyway so it isn't an issue.

i generally don't like recording MIDI at all, so i try to treat vst instruments a bit like hardware and reaper like a tape-machine, yes. sometimes i sequence in VCV but most of the time i play and record straight to audio in the reaper timeline. sometimes a mix of sequencing in renoise/vcv and playing/recording live on top of that in reaper. etc.

the \ and \\ is ultrasonic filtering which is beneficial when running in 96k sample rate to avoid aliasing and oversampling. it is just renamed instances of Airwindows Ultrasonic, where \ is medium filtering and \\ is strong filtering (depending on which instrument needs what).

I wanted to add Realogix to these, I just recently discovered it, not usually the kind of theme I would go for but it's very easy on the eyes. Created by the same person who made Mammoth, I only realized that after discovering it.

Alter Ego is a lot of fun and well designed, reminds me of Cubase 6.5 which was my favorite Cubase version for a long time.

The original theme here: https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2767/Echo ... erThemeZip
Thx, would be nice if you could post the changes when ready...
I am especially interested in the fixed positioning... I hate the dynamic behaviour... :D
I've hacked it to a level it's workable, though now thinking it's a bit dark/contrast-ey/not smooth. Minimised tracks have mute, solo, vol and pan as well as access to the effects, so useful for multi-out vsti mixing etc. I tried to simply add it as another layout to the original theme but had to change some graphics and that messes up the default ones so ripped them and started again as a separate them. I'll zip it up if anyone wants to play.

I've kind of lost track of Reaper these days but are there any themes that look this good that work on version 6 ?

^ All older themes should still work on v6 fine.

v6 introduced more support for hidpi, embeddable fx, more options in the theming (elements only showing at certain times etc) but the core engine is the same. Whether themes like the one you highlighted have been updated to take advantage of the new functionality is the question I guess.

Maybe search for "Imperial" in the search field, but I don't know how you can fit it in 1080p resolution, I think they are designed to work with higher (as I remember, but I could be wrong!). There are several in the search result, so try them and see!

edit:
sorry! they said it is designed for 1080p like this one:
https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2448/Impe ... ark_v3.zip
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I use a modified FL Studio theme. I think it looks nice without being too noisy.

DIsclaimer: very much a personalised hack for my eyes on my screen etc. Can't guarantee it'll behave doing stuff I don't normally do (don;t think I've even looked at the mixer with this theme), I know for a fact the ultra-compact tcp height is broke but I never use it so... one day.

I guess it was already mentioned here, but just reminder - FM is a flat-styled theme with it's own theme adjuster that has a lot of variations for TCP and MCP. optimized to use with TCP FX list and Embedded UI's. Extremely easy to use by highly intuitive structure and readable elements. contains 6 different color schemes from bright to dark

what's new?
  • the left column buttons and FX slots have become dark in bright themes
  • adjustable TCP/MCP background color, brightness, and saturation.
  • extra brightness for the selected track
  • two additional color schemes - with colored item background for dark and black versions
  • TCP label brightness (unselected)
  • quick layout switch in FM4 Adjuster for TCP and MCP
  • presets in FM4 adjuster (with save/delete)
  • small bugs fixed
the theme is paid - the whole dollar (or name your price by choosing quantity

P.S. of course I use my own theme because I created it for myself

I use a lightly modified 7.0 default. I started with default, went through several flashy themes and found my way back to default with just a few color changes.
