no problem.NERF_PROTOSS wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:05 pm this pic actually makes me curious about your workflow, sorry for the barrage of questions:
what's the \ and \\ in your FX chains? some kind of gain or meter plugin?
what's your MIDI setup like? looks like you're treating VST instruments a bit like hardware and just recording their audio output, tape-machine style?
the workflow changes depending on the project i'm doing. but right now i run Renoise as a 4-track midi sequencer and do all the composition there, and then mix and record the output of each instrument to audio in reaper. Instrument 1 in Renoise is set to MIDI channel 1 which correlates to "1 - OPS7" in reaper and so on. I don't use Rewire with renoise, as i had issue with latency, but i have no reason to sync anything anyway so it isn't an issue.
i generally don't like recording MIDI at all, so i try to treat vst instruments a bit like hardware and reaper like a tape-machine, yes. sometimes i sequence in VCV but most of the time i play and record straight to audio in the reaper timeline. sometimes a mix of sequencing in renoise/vcv and playing/recording live on top of that in reaper. etc.
the \ and \\ is ultrasonic filtering which is beneficial when running in 96k sample rate to avoid aliasing and oversampling. it is just renamed instances of Airwindows Ultrasonic, where \ is medium filtering and \\ is strong filtering (depending on which instrument needs what).
