Quite often Vulture Capitalist buy up companies, strip their assets, fire the employees, sell off the Intellectual Property, write themselves (c suite upper level) great big bonus’, then toss the carcass. Sometimes they actually try to make the business work. I have seen this over and over in the tech world (and even outside it).

Nothing on Blomberg's site about this. I wonder how much it cost.

I don’t think this will be a bad thing. Fender’s guitar tutorial site is pretty nice and growing.

It’s user friendly, and mobile device friendly.

They seem to have an eye staying relevant which I think is smart considering how many companies make fender type guitars with strong following. Then there’s the pedal business and that’s changing too.

This makes sense to me. Presonus will likely benefit from gaining a stronger user base too.

Funny how guitar companies seems to feel the urge to buy up DAW developers. Wonder if PRS will buy any DAW soon? Reaper maybe? :hihi:

As long as both companies are strong enough to stand on their own it should be just fine, but if one or the other start to run into trouble it might have a bad outcome all around. That is basically what happened with Gibson. I have Studio One 5 pro and I have no plans to get rid of it and I see no reason for panic (yet) :D

Yes....

But when you read the flowerly corporate speak that is released when the companies announce a merger, you can be forgiven for thinking that the vultures are doing it all for love...

Totally altruistic

This is what will happen:

Presonus will continue as the Presonus brand and continue doing what they do. Fender will remain Fender and take advantage of various technologies Presonus has to offer for incorporation into their stomp box and amplifier lines… perhaps even incorporating some of this tech directly into some new Fender high tech guitar lines. Studio One will continue on as it always has.

On a practical level, they will consolidate accounting and may consolidate warehousing.

Revisit this thread in a few years and see if I was wrong.

You got a point here. Merging with Fender *may* suggest they're heading away from beat makers, and more towards recording and mixing.
Or it could be the opposite. Fender may want a foothold in that market which they don't currently have and Presonus may have been that company aligned enough with their current culture to make sense. Mergers sometime are about finding something you don't do already and finding the easiest way to get to do it (just buy it). But who knows.
That is a possibility also! IMO Studio One (not the whole Presonus) might live stronger if Fender acts like Yamaha did with Steinberg or Apple with Logic. Both are still going strong. So, I think it's better to separate the Studio One from the hardware, because they are different cases for Fender.

Not sure how Fender would benefit from the electronic producers as most won't be interested in buying a guitar or bass guitar. Only if they are thinking to be like Yamaha and even produce motorbikes! Nothing is impossible! Our jokes might be the truth (especially Vurt's prophecies 😀 ).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

My recollection is when the current controlling owners took a large stake some years ago that it was that type of VC that they bought it from (I seem to recall the previous owners doing things like taking out huge loans and paying themselves a good portion of the borrowed money).

I believe it's basically a successful family owned now VC company based in Hawaii with a background in car dealerships, but that also owned music stores dating back to the 1950's or something and that first got involved with Fender when it was bought from CBS back in the 1980's.

So it may be a VC firm that is interested in making a profit, but don't assume it's just another bunch of vultures.

I don't give a shit. If they never update Studio One again, I'll keep using it until it doesn't work. If that goes as long as Orion did, I'll be in my 70s before it's a problem and by then I probably won't care (probably won't know my own name).

At least Fender is a guitar-oriented company, and they’re not Gibson.

If PreSonus merged with Technics or AKAI, I’d be worried about Studio One’s future.

But as long as They don’t stick a clip launcher in Studio One, I’m OK.

same - I mainly use S1 for the great Melodyne integration and the very easy modulation. If I'm still using this in even 5 years I'll just be thrilled to still be alive
For other stuff I use Reaper and for other stuff again I use Bitwig. If S1 folded and I was stuck with those two I'd be anything else but "stuck"

So far as the buyer name is Fender and not Gibson, everybody will be happy
