I thought we would have a break from note effects and randomization stuff for a while. Guess I'll wait on the upgrade again.

Yeh, I like the new Ableton randomisation method...
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

so this is the primary goal (at least seems BWS goes into this direction with every release), good to know
"A mostly unattended generative piece on the eurorack, just letting this one run."
in this case supporting the "Start/Stop Sync" func of Ableton Link would be handy to be able to use BWS properly as secondary DAW (MIDI clock based syncing always worked for me strangely)

https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/ableton ... ibilities/ AFAIK BWS still support the tempo syncing onlyBetter control across applications – Start/Stop Sync
Link’s new Start/Stop Sync feature brings improved control across Link-enabled products, both on a single device and across multiple devices.
When playing with multiple devices using the first version of Link, any player can control the tempo, and individual players have control over when they start or stop their part.
In the new version of Link, we’ve added the option to start or stop multiple applications together. So when playing alone or alongside others with several apps or devices, one application can control both the tempo and Start/Stop commands of all applications with the feature enabled.

Specially boring are FXs that work only on native devices (I bet my shoes Note FX will work only on these ones) - so boring..antic604 wrote: Wed Nov 03, 2021 2:19 pm After the initial excitement, I have to say that if that's all there is then it's probably one of the weakest releases ever... Don't we already have enough devices & features to randomise stuff? Wasn't 4.0 covering a lot of that already, with operators and expression spreads? Don't we already have Note Repeats (called "Note Echo")? And no actual DAW features, just some devices that look like they were hastily made in 5 minutes?
Out of the listed devices Strum looks like potentially most useful and - indeed - Sampler's release chain sounds appealing, but everything else? Meh.

Chill out dude. You called the features gimmicks and I expressed that I disagree, and feel otherwise. Welcome to Forum Participation 101.antic604 wrote: Wed Nov 03, 2021 5:48 pmThat's all I'm saying. I obviously can't know what anyone else wants. I thought this is obvious, but - again - apparently it's welcome to express satisfaction if new features happened to fit one's needs, and unwelcome to criticise if they didn't. Oh well...mholloway wrote: Wed Nov 03, 2021 5:40 pmNot to me, they don't. Bounce, strum, bend -- all very interesting and potentially useful stuff on my end. Just because you don't like / use it doesn't mean it's a gimmick.antic604 wrote: Wed Nov 03, 2021 4:37 pm The point is most of those devices seem gimmicky or redundant at best. I'd rather they released a proper 4.1 in Q1 or Q2 next year, rather than go with this half-baked stuff...

I think they are interesting too - more than the 4.0 release for me.

That is disappointing. Instead of note effects how about groove templates or swing or something, you know, actually useful for every day use. How is nobody talking about this? I would think that having a nice swing/shuffle etc that's actually useful would be priority number one, but what do I know.

ahhh now I can hold applying update serial for another 3 months.
Why do they keep investing on "possibilities"? When they have things to do that can benifit everyone?
I buy lottery every week and never won yet

Ooh, a little icing for me cake. num num num
I could probably put some of this stuff to use.
I'm waiting for the release notes before I call this cake done.

Do you refer to the post above yours? Because that's what it said:

I can also see that there is potential for improvement. Besides groove templates there are other interesting (parametric) concepts out there. E.g. the one built into TRK-01: There I have a 'Swing' parameter (which is the same as Bitwigs Shuffle) but also an additional 'Groove' parameter which inverts the time shift of every second off-beat.

I don't know, it just seems so ponderous the progress, or lack of it, regarding this DAW. How many people are really working on it? If they're doing something big behind the scenes, they should probably say so. If not, they should also say so.
We seem to be somewhere between dead slow and stop as far as development is concerned. It's all very disappointing imo.

Looks like some welcome additions for Bitwig the modular synthesis environment, maybe not so much for Bitwig the DAW.
