was hoping for the AU version by now. hmmm. the plug in won't run in the Live beta version because it's apple silicon native. shows up fine in Live 11 non-beta/non-native version.
AU and apple silicon native update is hopefully on the horizon not too far out.

The easy test would be going into private/incognito mode in one's browser and looking.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 6:51 pmYou probably just need to create a free GitHub account and then that should show the download options on that link above once you are logged in.wikter wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 6:19 pmZero obvious. Not tried it myself as I just bought the VCV Pro, but others may want to check it out.

You need an account and be signed into github or the links aren't clickable, not the most obvious links either (bottom of an Acions page).
I'm sure developers know where they host their files, but for sure, they're not aiming on make it available for average users...
Spoiler; no, you don't need to be logged into GH to access the build artefacts.
Edit; I'm silly, yes, the artefact links are not links. I'll ask if this can be worked around.

Which version of cardinal are you using? Sorry, I thought we were talking VCV Rack 2 Pro, not Cardinal. I think Cardinal probably deserves its own thread so it doesn't get confused with VCV Rack 2 Pro discussion. It's already confusing enough with Cardinal being a fork of a prior version of Rack, so probably best to not further confuse things by talking about both products in a single thread.GaryG wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 10:11 amWhich version of cardinal are you using? I'm on W10 and Reaper too, also tried Live.

I think the money is well spent on the pro version. I like to support this ongoing project.

Cardinal is a wrapper of Rack 2, not a fork. This is the second forum I've seen those two incorrect facts stated together on. Might there be an actual mistaken source of that misinformation?
Falktx says releases are nigh which will provide links. If folk don't want to create an M$-owned company account, they can easily clone, make and make install (and, yes, there is a make uninstall). If someone isn't keen on that, then it's probably better all-round that they only test actual releases. Arch and Arch derived Linux users can just look to the AUR to make their own -git based packages.
Falktx also advises Cardinal/Rack users to buy the Pro version if they like the software that much.
#cardinal on Libera, n yeah, someone should create a thread.

That's a really interestingly laid-out interface. Love the simplicity, and practical read-out right next to the knobs. I'm oddly drawn towards modules (physical and virtual) that have a near 4:3 face-plate aspect. Will have to give that a go.Rastkovic wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 3:21 pmInteresting, I'll give it a try. There is also a handy diagram of the module on his GitHub site. For lazy people like me....

Some weird drama seems to accompany Cardinal, I will stick to VCV.milkmiruku wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 6:37 pm Cardinal is a wrapper of Rack 2. This is the second forum I've seen those two incorrect facts stated together on. Might there be an actual mistaken source of that misinformation?

That's a fairly.. dramatic and weird thing to say. Can you point to what you actually mean? Cos it just reads like FUD.

Ok, though I don't see how you cannot realise you are perpetuating imaginary drama with such vague implications.
Though I guess, if anyone, as you say you do, wishes to base what software they get interested in or not based on people unfortunately not getting along for some reason or other, they could still google for 'vcv drama'. Maybe Cardinal will come up somewhere there.
Mostly just making a note now that, from the benefit of my experience, and in my opinion, some false and eye rolling things have been said about Cardinal.

ive done a lot of research on cardinal since it came about around last october. no apparent drama afaict. you can see andrew belt weighing in and commenting in the initial discussion thread of cardinal's github page and he's quite neutral. i think we'd see cardinal gone by now if it was violating the gpu's in place w vcv2. you can also find posts on the vcv forum about cardinal: https://community.vcvrack.com/t/cardina ... jack/15580 - the post is still up, and there doesn't seem to be any hostility in there so there's that.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 8:10 pmNomilkmiruku wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 7:34 pmThat's a fairly.. dramatic and weird thing to say. i've got rack pro as well as cardinal and even veeseevst. the free veeseevst has been essential up to now, in terms of using it as a teaching tool for students (most of which don't have any money). so i'm REALLY excited cardinal exists now to be able to use now in the classroom. cardinal even supports 32bit allowing my younger students who are still using older hand-me-down laptops, it works fairly great (save a few modules which still need to be fixed by falktx, cardinal's main dev). rack pro is certainly the best of all 3(despite it's, imho, high price tag) - i mean the number of free, amazing sounding modules for it is crazy making it p much the most powerful synth plugin out now perhaps (side note: i think andrew takes way too much credit - vcv would be nothing without all the 3rd party devs making amazing modules for vcv!). automating any knob in rack pro is way easier than cardinal (cardinal u still have the map module though). but if you really actually know what you're doing with vcv, cardinal (even veeseevst) - is still really insanely powerful even though it doesn't have all the modules of rack pro. in it's beta form, ive found cardinal to be quite stable enough to use in the classroom this year. or even live productions (i have a reaper test project currently with about 100 instances of cardinal (not all on at the same time obvs) using all different modules, and no crashes at all). there are pluses and minuses to all 3 of these vcv vst2 variations, but, i think, ultimately the price tag is really a determining factor.
yeah it sucks about past dramas surrounding vcv. i hate exclusivity, greed, and meglomaniac behaviors muddying up fun creative environments as much as anybody. but it's probably time to move forward and hope vcv heads, et al, have learned their lessons/won't repeat the same mistakes moving forward.

Host makes VCV behave like a DAW. Refresh your existing plugins.Gribs wrote: Wed Dec 01, 2021 4:04 pm I don’t have VCV Rack. A quick search revealed that there is a module that will host VST 2/3 plugins available for $30. The module provides all exposed automation parameters as targets for modulation.
Sheesh. Okay. Maybe it is time to add one more software modular to my hoard.
