ah ok. Will the demo also be updated?

When we release the updates, the demo versions are also updated at the same time. This is an automated process, so you'll always find the most updated version on our site ;)

Right now, the update for the Space Station is not ready yet. I'm still working on it.
I'll keep everybody posted in this thread.

Cheers,
Luca

just bought it, ...once again a very exciting emulation of a vintage delay unit (as alborosie, wires and outer space from audiothing, echo cat from wavesfactory and many others, ...many excellent jobs here and there usually at an attractive price IMO ! ...a temptation uneasy to resist to :)

Audiority wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 2:56 pm Yes, the plugin is a bit darker than the original. Most of that is because the original hardware has quantization noise which we didn't want. Since the gain stages inside the hardware has been done in a way that the signal will never overload the converter, we decided to spare some CPU, since the final result is still very close. As you can see on the frequency chart posted earlier, the hardware (blue graph) has some more energy around the end of the device bandwidth. Using more coefficients for the high order filter brings a better result, but the CPU usage becomes too much. The faster workaround would have been using IRs to make this plugin, but that would have been cheating to me. I model these units mainly to learn electronics and every one is a challenge. There's room for improvements tho. In fact I'm improving the feedback path as we speak and I'll expose an internal control to set the behavior of the Feedback knob. This improves the matching with the original unit a LOT and, on the other hand, will give users the chance to revert back to how v1.0 sounds.

Luca
this is an authentic labour of love

Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Jan 14, 2022 12:48 pm So what's the overlap and differences between this and polaris? Saw the discount for polaris owners.
Polaris has been inspired by the 282 but, back then, I hadn't any chance to find the real hardware. The signal path is also different, especially the way all taps interacts. You can hear that in how the reverb tail differs between the two plugins. Furthermore, Polaris has some more editing possibilities. The Space Station, while having some extras compared to the hardware, is a strict simulation of the original machine, including the reduced bandwidth. Here's a screenshot comparing the frequency response of the hardware (blue) and the plugin (red). :D You surely can't get that close with Polaris.
Damn, how do you even model such specific frequency responses algorithmically (if that's even how that works)?

Nice  . Personally would like that 7k bandwidth limitation to be switchable maybe... but anyway, this is interesting as we used unnamed&unreleased plugin which emulates Space Station on https://soundcloud.com/soft-knees/lost-tapes

it was paired with Valhalla Shimmer.

Will be following keenly.

In case you missed it, here's a trippy VCV generative ambient patch processed solely by the Space Station :D

We are updating Space Station to improve the matching with the original machine.
Here's a video of the release candidate :D Enjoy!

Slight difference in the low-mid that seems a bit more prominent in the plugin than the harware unit as far as i can judge ?

i cant see the update in my account

The update is not there yet, guys. I'll announce it here and you'll also get a notification in the plugin.

Space Station UM282 has been updated to v1.1

Changes:
- NEW: Updated framework
- NEW: Improved hardware matching
- NEW: Age and FBK Trimmer parameters
- NEW: Ctrl+Double Click to set knob value manually
- FIX: Value from text always returning 0
- BREAKING CHANGE: New parameters change the sound behavior.
Set both AGE and FBK TRIMMER to 50% on projects saved with v1.0.

You can download the update from your User Area account.

My bad! FBK TRIMMER should be set to 50% to make it fully linear, like on v1.0

I'm so sorry for that guys. I've updated the notices on the site and here. I'll update the manual, presets and default parameter value on monday.

What does the delay ext knob in the bottom right? It doesnt get mentioned in the (1.1) manual.

great cool plugin btw

The combs 10 setting gives a nice joy divison sound on the clap/snares
