And I'm sure some are hoping for that, but I think it's realistic today that VST3 won't go away in a hurry. CLAP will play nicely with VST3, it isn't either or. That's immediately obvious to developers who swap VST2 for CLAP as their main format. They were restricted to the feature set of VST2. Which IMHO is part of the reluctance to support VST3. With CLAP as their main format however it'll be easy to support VST3. Same if they have their own internal format but used VST2 for their automated test and stuff, like we did.
(they can't necessarily switch to VST3 as their main format because it simply doesn't lend itself to be adaptable to other formats, e.g. for the lack of MIDI, for the way it's separation of UI and DSP is designed and also quite simply for the weirdness of the com model its based on.)
