Interesting... :o :-?

I would like to see an independent poll conducted worldwide.

I see many choices there I wouldn't personally subscribe. Opinions, opinions :D

But it seems there are some restrictions from the beginning: "...These results celebrate the ‘best in class’ products launched or reviewed in the period from September 2019 through to the end of August 2020."

And, for the 2022 poll: "This year’s SOS Awards once again placed the emphasis on innovation and contemporary design, with the nominations being limited to products introduced in the 12 months prior to the voting period. These results celebrate the ‘best in class’ products launched or reviewed in the period from September 2020 through to the end of August 2021."

Yes, you're right. but I would assume Logic Pro retains the vast majority of users in macOS. It's just an assumption, though

I am on Mac and a Bitwig user. Logic is rarely in use, mainly for adjusting/creating sound tracks for video… But I’d rather stop doing video sound tracks than ditchin Bitwig… Its also mor future proof, as Bitwig runs on all OSs even on Linux…

Cubase for me as it has all the editors I need and most important total integration of console one.

Interesting thread. Of course, one needs to take them with a grain of salt, but at least, it's telling what the KVR community is NOT interested in... namely Pro Tools. De facto for many, still entirely disregarded here. Goes to show we (as opposed to some other forums) are more about synths etc than recording bands, I guess.

I simply think most people here write / produce music rather than mix / master it and that is where ProTools shines. For anything else I heard it's a headache.

I'm surprised to see FL Studio that far behind.

Exactly my hunch.

It's pretty jarring to see this type of music in ProTools :)

The bigger problem is that people ho have never used PT like to make wild speculative claims about what it can and can’t do. I made a ton of trance and chillout tracks in PT and it was fine. It supports soft synths, has a piano roll and MIDI editing tools, and has plenty of automation features. You don’t need a whole lot more than that, other than skills and musical creativity.

Yes, like S1, Waveform/Tracktion and even the free (!) Cakewalk. Especially S1, given their rep on this forum.

Indeed, S1 is way lower than I thought it would be too.

Logic is an amazing DAW! The development team has done a great job the past few years... I picked Bitwig in the poll... but Logic is a close second just cause it is so powerful and capable and the development is fast, fresh and forward thinking...
