If you simply ignore the samples then it just becomes another one of their virtual analog synths and as such is not bad but certainly not the best I've heard from them.

I don't think even if this was freeware I would use it for sample based sounds.

I won't be using every sample but I already found ones I like a lot. Which honestly is similar to every pcm/wavetable based synth or even just collection of such samples I use - I just get in where I fit in with a product, and enjoy the workflow and other elements that draw me in the first place. All are entitled to their opinions, and not crazy for them

I just finished my quick test of it.

I opened the standalone and just played it live for about 10 minutes using a decent pair of headphones, going through some patches for the most part.

I already have way more than enough synths to last me a lifetime, but I don't mind adding this to my collection.

When I make tracks, I'll just open up a synth, audition some sounds, maybe tweak a little bit here and there, and if I don't find what I'm looking for, then I'll just move on to the next synth and so on until I do.

I ran across some sounds in this that I like, which I could see myself using sometime, so I'll be adding this to my arsenal.

Sounds like typical vintage looping if you ask me.

And those obvious loop points can actually form part of the overall sound.

The loop has their own rhythm and when you play a chord for example, the loops on the different notes are all going to go at their own tempo I think, which contributes to the overall sound and create something different than you would have gotten with a multisampled, modern sample.

Oh just stop....vintage looping. Even the samples in my Ensoniq Mirage from 1987 didn't sound that bad.....

Well that's a good sign. At least they're willing to fix the samples. I think they might have actually meant Bottle 3.

I'm more than willing to try any demo updates.

Quickly demoed it

Pros:
1. I like the presets - both amount and quality

Cons / To improve:
1. Seems a bit CPU heavy
2. GUI - there is something wrong there. There are tons of controls, squashed and colors make eyes hmm tire quickly
3. In demo, when switching Oversampling i was able to get neverending demo noise - I guess a bug spotted ;p

Pro tip - switching presets on mac is easier when you start using right cmd instead of left one (cmd + left / right arrows). That way you can still play on keyboard with left hand, and switch presets with right
