Tracktion, being a tiny company, is always going to have to balance bug fixes with new features - new purchases provide more money that an existing customer and upgrades. Just the reality of business. This doesn't mean you should change anything or do anything different if you're reporting the bugs you're encountering, but using Tracktion Waveform has always been a bit of a compromise, so you have to appreciate it for what it is, not what it could be. And not everyone does, or has to.

11.5 addressed many of the issues I was encountering. 12 will introduce new ones.

Please open a ticket with support. There are a few SKUs of W11 that were missed being eligible to upgrade to W12. Support will get it resolved for you.

Will TSC give a "discount code" (in order to reduce the update cost from W11 to W12) to actual customers which are yet owners of the DAW Essentials pack ?

They've rewritten the engine from scratch. That ought to have exorcised some of the11.5 bugs.

How does that relate to the several options as to the 'experimental audio engine' in V11? Are those options still there, or have they selected one as the winner, as it were?

Looks like I may not need to. I just refreshed the shopping cart page and now I was able to purchase the upgrade - seems those SKUs were added?

Out of curiosity--it looks as if my $99 upgrade would include DAW Essentials... which I neither own nor want.

If I theoretically subtract the price of the DAW Essentials upgrade of $50, that would put the upgrade closer to the traditional price of $49.

Wondering if this was intentional by Tracktion or an error, since the Pro version I used *never* included DAW Essentials.

I think the engine was rewritten from scratch with 11.5.

I believe it's the user interface which was rewritten from scratch with v12, at least as far as one video suggested.

Was able to order the upgrade finally. Have to admit at first glance the UI does look a lot cleaner.

Does anyone know how W12 is handling plugins in the M1 Mac? Not sure if it needs exclusively M1-compatible plugins or if it can use the Apple Audio Unit bridging. The online manual doesn't look like it has been updated for W12.

I tried loading BioTek2 into native M1 Waveform and it just froze...

They actually are there, but they are black, and the default color scheme has an extremely dark background which makes them nearly impossible to see. Use the option to customize the colors and set the background to be a bit lighter and they show up better.

There should be an additional option to change those borders.

There are no more engine options, just a few other things in that area.
