I bought 2 Waves plug-ins from best service (Clarity VX and CR8 Creative Sampler) and registered them to my Waves account but I didn't receive any mail regarding being eligible to the 2 free plug-ins and if I try to choose the free plug-ins form the designated page I get the message that I'm not entitled to them. Is this normal, i.e. it takes Waves a bit of time to process your order when you make it with other resellers? Or possibly Best Service is not part of Waves Authorized Resellers?

Not true. From the terms for this offer:

You must register the serial numbers provided by your dealer in your Waves account before the end of the promotion.

After registering your serial numbers, you will receive an email with a link to a webpage where you will be able to log in to your Waves account and select your free plugins.

Free plugin selection must be completed within 72 hours from the time of serial number registration."

That last term may be erroneous---iirc in the past they waited until near or after the end of the promotion to send out the email. Never had to email them the invoice, but I don't think I bought through Best Service, just Everyplugin.

I feel the risk is that you could buy an account takeover, but in future the seller could contact the developer and potentially get their account back, because they have the original receipt and are the true owners. Is this a reality?

I imagine the scenario being something like.... "Seller to developer: Hi, I can't get into my account - can you send the password reset to the email address I used to purchase?" - boom.

The developer is not going to say "No you can't do that because your account is owned by another person with a different email address" - they didn't even know the guy sold his acccount and surely will not recognize or comply to any such transfers outside of their policy, ie: the account takeover owner has no rights and no power to act.

Yes, that happened to me once. Bought an account via account takeover and the seller later reclaimed the account be insisting that I had hacked it. There isn’t much you can do if a seller decides to scam you that way.

Yes, very probably. There is the rare vendor that clears account takeovers (I think tracktion/waveform do), but other than that I'd steer clear.

IMO, this is one of the riskiest types of transaction you can do on this site. The risk is for both the seller and the buyer. For example, the buyer could take over and pretend the pwd you sent was invalid and request a refund.

I've made this type of transaction three times here, once as a seller and two as a buyer, all successful. I have thought about transferring the pwd in a zoom meeting with the other person sharing their screen, but haven't actually done it that way.

Don't worry, you will get the email from Waves. I was in the same situation yesterday. I bought 2 plugins from a reseller too and it took more than 15 hours for the link to arrive. Best Service is part of this, just like any other resellers. I did send one email to Waves Order Support and I received the link after that. I am not sure if the email caused it, but I haven't received a reply, so maybe not. You can write to them if needed.

If you buy from Waves, you are able to choose immediately, but it costs a bit more buying direct as we all know, so we need to wait.
