Just have a quick question/comment on racks. I find that six insert slots is a bit limiting. By the time I add an instrument, three or four sends and an EQ all my space is gone. It would be nice if each rack had built-in sends and an EQ kinda like other DAWs have with their mixer strips.

I'm wondering if any of you have found a work-around for this? I've tried a few things in the Modular view but haven't come up with any elegant solution(s) so far. I need more inserts. :)

Best,
Scott

The quickest available solution is to insert a MUX in an insert slot, that gives you limitless options.

Ah-so! Yes, I see. Put the MUX as an Insert. I hadn't tried that - was just working in the project Modular window. But, my next question is -- I want to have my three Send Racks reside at the level of the project. If I place a MUX as an Insert will I be able to send signals from this sub-level to the top mixer level?

Yes that's possible. The trick is to add extra audio outputs into that MUX, then via that MUX context menu -> Setup Aux Ins/Outs -> make sure the extra outputs are enabled as aux outputs from the rack. Then in the modular area containing that rack you can connect those aux outs to anything you want. The same trick applies for using aux inputs, eg for side-chaining.

Cool. Just did it. Works dandy!
I then went and made a preset of that.

I'm attempting to link the Gain of the three Sends I made in the MUX to a single Meta-Parameter to control volume amount. I connected those three Audio Outs with a Mixer module and that does what I need. :)
I could have also done it as you describe in the tutorial by using an Amplifier. Or better. I put in a Rack and that way I can have a Master volume fader and also allows me to set volumes on all Sends. Very cool!

Yeah, MuX as a container is great. I use it for Kontakt and Sforzando -- just a simple MuX containing two racks (both on the MuX front panel), with Kontakt or Sforzando in the first slot of the first rack, with that rack routing to the second rack. Lots of inserts :) -- and just one slot on the main mixer.

That's good thinking! Now that I'm getting the hang of it I can see going overboard with it very quickly. I'll be making lots of preset/template MuX's for my projects.

I'm responding to what I posted on this thread regarding MU9:

If you want to send a signal from a deeper MUX to a parent MUX, then send the signal to an output that the parent can see & connect.

I'm including a pic of what it takes to get the job done and while it's a solution, it's not the most 'elegant' solution. It would be nice if a sub-rack were able to see all the top-level racks as possible sends instead of having to jump through the MUX-Audio Outs-Modular area connection hoops. That's one thing I was hoping for in MU9.

Sending signals around is possible using cable connections. I'm not yet sure what's not elegant about it. Maybe you mean something about the accessibility to the send parameters? What mapping the send parameters as meta-parameters for that polysynth or the upper mux? Maybe that will make them more accessible? Depends on your workflow. Please elaborate.
