Interesting. I haven't tried MConvolution.

1. Have you compared to any other convolution reverbs?
2. Is it possible MConvolution is has some filter in place?

What kind of signal are you putting through it? Would be interesting to test.

So, still no Workflow or Audio/Midi/Arranger improvement and fixes as listed in Bitwish?

What did you find?
MPE Glide doesn't register correctly; it doesn't pick up at all when gliding flat and only registers to one half-step when gliding sharp. I used Equator 2 and Cypher 2 to check and restarted from scratch (I'd used both Equator 2 and Cypher 2 in a previous project and originally found the issue there, so I started a new piece with just those two synths in it.)

Other than that, nothing else yet.
I've almost given up on ROLI based on all of the info released about the company this last year. I still have my Seaboard but haven't used it in a minute.

I'm assuming you're using a seaboard. Same issue with other synths or could this be a ROLI issue?
Yes, I'm using a Seaboard (2 of them, actually), Lightpad Block and Touch Block.

And no, while I agree with you somewhat about ROLI's support, some people there have been amazingly helpful (It's always the case, right?), this is definitely not a ROLI issue, per se. This issue only shows up in the Bitwig 4.3 Beta, not in Studio One 5 (which actually has another issue as it totally disregards the Lift dimension of MPE) and it is fine across the board in Waveform 12. The issue also does not occur in Bitwig 4.2.3 at all. So this is new to the 4.3 Beta.

BTW, is the final version of 4.3 out? I rec'd two emails that seemed to say that it was ready for download today (which I may put off doing until I can verify that the MPE issue is resolved), but when I go to my account 4.3 is still listed as a Beta only.

Yeah, 4.3 is still in BETA for a bit. I'd guess at least a few weeks or month. Hopefully Bitwig resolves the issue you reported in this 4.3 release. Do you have steps to replicate the issue? If I can replicate it I'll report it too.

I have the Studio Edition with the Lightpad Block, and I think that's my favorite thing they've made. Your post is going to make me drag it back out.

Well, the problem is gone. I saved the project with the bass cut from bitwig convolution, restarted bitwig and now it's gone, now their "identical", soo something bugged for some reason.

I just loaded the same mic impulse response to both convolution devices and put them in their own layer in fx layer. If one want to keep to bitwig devices, you can use eq+ at the end of one of the layers, and use eq+ reference function to pull in the signal from the other convolution to compare them. That way you can have the eq+ analyzer expanded but still change "layer" to tweak convolution parameters to match them(gain).

Thanks for checking this out. To replicate it in the Beta, just open an MPE-capable synth, enable it for MPE in Bitwig, and attempt to glide flat on your Seaboard Block (you'll hear no change in pitch if what I experienced is any indication) and then glide sharp (and if you get what I got, the pitch will change only up to a half-step and then stop, regardless of how far you glide.)

BTW, and this probably has no bearing at all on the issue, ROLI Dashboard was updated a few days ago. I noticed a change in Studio One 5 after I updated, but have no idea if there was a firmware update negotiated for the hardware through Dashboard or not that could have helped the Studio One 5 problem. Studio One 5, BTW, while better on the release segment on envelopes than it was before the update, still does not recognize Lift in patches that utilize this dimension. Both Bitwig 4.x and Waveform 12 have no issues with this.

Thanks again for checking this out! Let me know what you find.

I'm glad the problem disappeared, and good tip on the fx layers. I've seen occasional glitches that I can't pin down in Bitwig, BETA or not. Like looping audio and moving the loop around. Hard to reproduce, but it happens often enough it bugs me.

Thanks for mentioning MConvolutionMB. I'm going to check it out too.

I just fired up the seaboard and blocks and I can't connect the ROLI Dashboard. Tried reinstalling to get the hardware drive running, but no luck. Submitted a ticket with support so I guess I'll find out how good their support is quickly.

Then, I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.

I'm happy with this update. Fx and instrument updates are for me the best there can do.
I hope filter updates are planed for the future. I love it sound is great.
But top virtual emulated classics like ms20, vc3.. Arp.. as build ins.. we do not need 2 hand plugins. Any More 😊

I just DL'ed the second Beta and I am very happy to say that the MPE glide issue has been fixed. It is back to working as it did in the Bitwig Studio 4.2 release.

Thanks, Bitwig!

Thanks also to Bill for his willingness to check the issue out.

Delay and reverb are very nice but the flatpak distribution has been quite disastrous for me so far.

All global plugins from /usr/lib can't be used by Bitwig, not even with symlinks. Only physical copies of the shared libraries seem to work. But then all regular apps will see them twice. Moving is not an option either as this will break the update mechanism of the plugins.

Plugins with activation counters want a new activation for every single flatpak application so those eat up quickly (eg Pianoteq, F'em).

Bridged plugins with yabridge are recognized by Bitwig but loading fails miserably (I guess that the wine libs can't be loaded).

Other plugins can't find presets or samples and the list goes on and on.

The flatpak installer doesn't install an icon in the start menu so I have to start discover and work my way to the Bitwig entry in the installed app section and start from there every time. This could be my system but it's basically just a stock Ubuntu 22.4.

Flatpak is nice but sandboxing just doesn't work with DAWs that need to load a lot of external plugins at runtime that all have their own external dependencies. I don't think that this could ever be fixed with permissions. So please Bitwig: Please bring back deb packages and make flatpack optional.

Hello
Flatpak works fine for me.
Arch linux with Gnome desktop.
File downloaded from Bitwig homepage and installed with gnome software center + flatpak plugin. VST from U-he, Pianoteq, tracktion, GVST, work without any problems without changing the system.
Pipewire integration is a dream come true.
Thank you so much for this!!!

This is a beta. So of course everything isn't going to work perfectly yet on every system.

Rather than wringing your hands and saying flatpaks should be abandoned, report it as a bug and provide plenty of information to help them fix it.
