I spent the last few months really *trying* to get into something else. Most of my time was spent between eXT, Live, Podium, and even FruityLoops 5 but don't tell anyone!
While in each of these tools I've been able to construct relatively complete roughed song structures (sans Podium)... I've finally identified the number one problem which stops me from moving onward to completion. None of these programs have any strength in editing (maybe in Podium but I never can get that far)! and the navigation just doesn't lend to really zipping all over the place with speed... this is really where a track comes to life for me. It's like chop-suey! You'd think I was an audio black belt. I stack audio up and break it with my head, foot, hands, what ever it takes. If you are a control freak, and like to place everything by hand... other software becomes a lot less attractive.
I did give Sonar a good go as well, but the bloat factor just makes me want to puke. You right click a menu and a shitload of stuff comes up that I don't even want to think about. You can probably configure it off, but figuring out how to do that is a mission in itself. It just feels way to cluttered.. then I get flush and dizzy. I get lost in it's sea of options at which point I just removed the demo (agian.. this is the third time).
anyway... every once in a while, I have a "T" epiphany... why am I drawn to this fugker like a magnet? just thought I share it (again...
