The "percussion key" setting when I load a percussion part within a bank, seems not to be related to what actual key I am supposed to hit to produce the selected percussion sound. That is instead indicated by a red dot on the keyboard in ADL.
When I'm creating a percussion instrument in part 10, how do I make that red dot appear on a specific key I would like to be the trigger for that sound?
And what is the "percussion key" setting for exactly?

Use 'add program' from the dialog box, select the bank number (If there is not already a bank loaded with that number a new one will be created). Select the program number and choose 'melodic' or 'percussive' from the dropdown list. The plugin conforms to the 'General Midi' standard of 128 banks of 128 patches each with percussive set to channel 10.Rahodees wrote: Thu Jun 09, 2022 5:47 am How can I create an entirely new bank? I just want a completely blank bank I can fill with my own instruments including percussion in "part 10" whatever that means. (Does "part" basically mean "channel"?)

The "percussion key" setting determines the pitch played for the patch relating to the note wth the red dot.Rahodees wrote: Thu Jun 09, 2022 5:54 am The "percussion key" setting when I load a percussion part within a bank, seems not to be related to what actual key I am supposed to hit to produce the selected percussion sound. This is determined by the program number selected when using 'add program' with the + icon. (you can save a sound as 'instrument file' and reload it to a specific key this way)Rahodees wrote: Thu Jun 09, 2022 5:54 am When I'm creating a percussion instrument in part 10, how do I make that red dot appear on a specific key I would like to be the trigger for that sound?

Thanks for that. I created a new bank. Now when I click on the words "M000 Acoustic GrandPiano" a dropdown appears. On that dropdown is bank 000:000 (the default loaded up when I load the VST) and bank 000:001 (the one I created). However 000:001 is greyed out and I am unable to select it. I am guessing because it has no instruments in it, but that is just a guess. How do I save an instrument to that bank, or if that's not the issue, what might be the issue be?RichardSemper wrote: Thu Jun 09, 2022 8:38 am

After downloading the plugin to my Mac, Logic would not validate it and Digital Performer crashed anytime I enabled a second instance of it. Reaper seemed to work fine, but I hadn't used it that much in the past. To compose the track, I used Logic and a "similar FM plugin" as a scratchpad, then transferred the MIDI to Reaper. Once it was in Reaper, I changed all of the sounds to the ADLMIDI, and used the DAW for mixing and mastering.
There are 16 instances of the plug-in in use. Reaper's native EQ (Mostly HPF and LPF) and Compression were used on each track, along with some instances of Vahalla's SuperMassive for effects, and some OTT on the bass to smooth it out. For the mastering bus, I used OTT and W1.
I hope you enjoy the track, and good luck to all participants!

Man, this REALLY is a challenge. I haven't encountered sounds like these since my SoundBlaster card from the 90's. Too bad we can't use choruses and flangers to phatten up the sounds. I guess layers and layers of stems will have to suffice.
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

I usually go for really big phat productions - but this time I think I'll embrace the lofi thin sounds. Seems too hard to fight against it!Boy Wonder wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 7:49 am Man, this REALLY is a challenge. I haven't encountered sounds like these since my SoundBlaster card from the 90's. Oddly I find I have to re-scan each time load Reaper and then it finds the ADLplug ... else they are all marked red and not available. [Only for this plugin though]zachy9 wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 3:27 am I can't get the VST version to scan properly in Reaper, nor the AU version to scan properly in Logic. Anyone have better luck?

I couldn't either though standalone works fine. I did so many different things. Ultimately ADL finally started working after I deleted and rescanned. OPN never did so I guess I'm using ADL. I'm not really sure what it started working. There is this you can try posted by ELEX in the discord:zachy9 wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 3:27 am I can't get the VST version to scan properly in Reaper, nor the AU version to scan properly in Logic. For me VST2 worked, VST3 did not. Not sure if you're referring specifically to VST1 or just VST in general, but if the latter, try VST2 if you haven't already? Maybe.zachy9 wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 3:27 am I can't get the VST version to scan properly in Reaper, nor the AU version to scan properly in Logic. Anyone have better luck?
