I think that Zebra 3 will be its own thing, not comparable to anything out there, or anything that will come to be.

Great news!
Zebra 2 has been my favourite softsynth forever. I recently started using it again in a hybrid setup to replace analog mono synth for bass, and maybe develop more "digital hybrid" bass patches as the project develops further.
Good luck with eurorack business, new function generator module seems awesome.

I hope to see a much more fleshed out arpeggiator, like the ability to have step dividers or change any steps note value, I think Omnisphere has the best arpeggiator and of course Animation Station is pretty much the god sequencer plugin, I don’t expect the Zebra3 arpeggiator to be that feature packed but it’d be a real plus to have some of the features and functionality of more modern sequencers

Well, first and foremost, Zebra3 will not conflate Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer into one unit. Like in Hive they will be distinguished modules which can interact. As the use of step sequencers is crucial to my own experience in music making, Zebra3 will certainly have elaborate concepts there. Think CVilization Mode 3.
The control sequence for Zebra's arpeggiator was a pretty novel concept, I think only, hmm, was it Albino? had a very similar concept at the time. I do feel guilty though that nowadays it's not often clear whether people mean "Arpeggiator" or "Step Sequencer" when they use the term.

Yeah I get confused on the terminology myself, sometimes I’ll say “arpeggiator”, sometimes I’ll say “step sequencer”, the difference between the two is a bit blurred and not so easy to distinguish. But it’s great to hear that you’re taking that into account and looking to upgrade its abilities, I like how it works in Hive but I could definitely see it being taken further.Urs wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 6:47 am Well, first and foremost, Zebra3 will not conflate Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer into one unit. Being the massive TENET fanboy that I am I’d say step dividers are the big one for me, I’ve heard it being done in some Repro presets but I couldn’t figure out how to do it myself, would love to just right click on a certain step and have that option

I think I'm just gonna pay the 30 euros for the 2->3 upgrade when the time comes. Looking forward to everything!

Quick update from my side:
The past two or three weeks I had to polish code and text for CLAP. Unfortunately this is going to suck up a lot of air for at least another two to three weeks. The feedback from the dev community has been overwhelming, so when we go full on public some time next week, we think this is only going to increase. Probably a lot.
To give you an idea of just how much it might affect my schedule, it was suggested that I speak at Game Sound Convention in October. I'm not gonna do that (I play modular synths in public, but won't speak), but I will have to do some interviews and stuff. And that is despite the fact that I had nearly nothing to do with the development, I just take part in meetings to say "yes" when someone asks "are we gonna do this". And certainly, even though I mostly left social media, I'll have to reply with XKCD 386 whenever someone posts 927 (I also have a more detailed answer which could be topic of a graduation thesis, I'm not sure I'll unleash that because it'll cost even more time).
Anyhow. I will try to finish the spline editor and oscillators/MSEG - and thus Zebralette - by August. I am however going to be distracted, quite a bit, over the next couple of days/weeks. Thus, even optimistically, it might be a month or two later.
(I expected CLAP to gain traction, but even I probably have no idea what's coming...)

You should have known from day 1 since you chose that name for this new standard. That thing will be epidemic by itself, and if you think it has a name of something transmitted by sexual practices... even moreUrs wrote: Sun Jun 12, 2022 7:36 am Quick update from my side:

It won't be the name of the plug-in format, but the names on a list of supporters.
The STD discussion will die down quickly. And if anyone thinks CLAP is a bad name for a plug-in format, I have a little quote for them:
“Since ancient times, clapping has always been deeply associated with music: From the rhythmic clapping at tribal gatherings or concerts, to the iconic clap sound in drum machines. But the ‘high five’ clap signifying shared achievement, closely related to the handshake signifying agreement or mutual appreciation, is another positive association. And that metaphor transcends the duality between host application and plug-in, which meet as equals in CLAP.”

That's truly a lovely sentiment and very fitting, but as I native English speaker it's hard for me to separate the verbal stimulus of the word from its semantic meaning. But hopefully like you suggested with time that neural pathway will will take a backseat. Anyway, sounds like a lot of cool exciting stuff is going on for you right now and I will be following keenly!Urs wrote: Sun Jun 12, 2022 10:14 am It won't be the name of the plug-in format, but the names on a list of supporters.
