The SY99 is certainly a great synth and was also Yamaha's flagship at the time. I was always amazed by the Chick Corea demo songfmr wrote: Tue Mar 22, 2022 5:21 pmWell... You are the first SY99 owner I see that are not interested in having a software emulation.4damind wrote: Tue Mar 22, 2022 5:18 pm I don't know if there is really that much interest in a SY emulation? I don't find the SY so exciting that I need an emulation (I own a SY99 myself).![]()
I am also an owner of a SY99 (and an expanded TG77) and would be very happy to have a software version (at least to be able to recreate all my older projects without having to go back to the hardware).
I had also bought samples, waveform cards and memory expansions. But for more complex productions, the polyphony was simply too low. Some time ago, I loaded a few of my old SY99 projects and found that notes were often cut off (unfortunately, I often had this problem with SY99... I just searched for the mix of some SY99 projects and uploaded them to Soundcloud... there you can also hear the problem with the low polyphony).
Of course you can still use the SY today, but if you are honest, you can do more with any current wavetable synth?
That's why I don't really have such a big need for an emulation. It might be interesting (for me) only to load old projects.
