Yeah, we internally shared a few "hey, look at this!" videos with Surge and ACE in our company and on some dev boards. Whenever the penny dropped, people went "WTF!?!".

Since CLAP allows per voice modulation, does that mean that any clap plugin is now mpe compatible in bitwig since you can use bitwigs mpe modulators?

If the CLAP plugin responds to the required events, yes.

So, the problem exists in the VST3 version as well, but it works fine in the VST2 version. I have never noticed the problem on VST3, because I avoid VST3 when I have an alternative.tasmaniandevil wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 2:17 pmWe noticed this too, Bitwig doesn't seem to play notes with a velocity of 1. This works ok in Reaper.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 2:12 pmThat definitely does sound like a bug indeed!teilo wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 2:09 pm With further testing, my keyboard (KK S61 MK2) is correctly sending vel 001 on those notes. Bitwig shows the lowest possible velocity value in the editor, which is 001. At that value, the synths are receiving the data (the MIDI light flashes), but no note sounds.
But for our plugins it's the same behaviour in all plugin formats, VST2, VST3 and CLAP.
Here is a project demonstrating the problem with HIVE. Three tracks, CLAP, VST2, and VST3. On CLAP and VST3, 2 notes sound. On VST2, all four notes sound.

This does seem to be a Bitwig issue, though. Every VST3 I try has the problem. But, again, the CLAP version of Surge XT does not have the issue.
An easy workaround is to put a Velocity Curve device in front of the chain that forces the minimum velocity to 0.55%.

But that's the question. In theory any parameter can be modulated in CLAP now right? But i guess they still need to be able to receive on multiple channels right? Or is that built in to the CLAP format? That's the part I don't know.

Non-destructive modulation has nothing to do with MPE necessarily, it's a different type of event. It's more akin to host automation but polyphonic.

Just watched the video: makes me want to buy Bitwig. You bastards! Will wait for the next sale at least. Though, I expect Reaper will support Clap by then...on the other hand, will the modulation be as sexy in Reaper? Really trying to avoid another DAW
. I'm very happy with Reaper. Talking to myself now: just because Bitwig is something new and pretty doesn't mean you need to think about cheating on Reaper.
I'd love to know if there's a bump in Bitwig sales as a result of Clap.

Hope you didn't feel like you were being slagged on my account. I definitely see where you're coming from and respect your viewpoint. In a perfect world, what you're suggesting could be done and implemented in such a way that even novice users couldn't mess it up.
(and have I mentioned how hopeful I am about CLAP?)

I have the same feelings. I don't think bitwig will be the only "big name" supporting clap. I also hope reaper will support it.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 4:11 pm Just watched the video: makes me want to buy Bitwig. You bastards! Will wait for the next sale at least. The VST/CLAP itself is usually just a few MB. If the plugin requires a large amount of data like samples, it should give the user an option to choose where to store that data. That's what most my my heavy plugins do. So having a fixed directory for CLAP on C shouldn't be an issue.gnu23 wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 2:31 pm (Speaking Windows now): That location is a usually C-drive, and in modern installers, there's usually a Registry entry involved as well. Also, in newer PCs C-drive is often a 1 TB SSD. That 1TB SSD can fill pretty quickly.
For those reasons alone, the end-user should be offered the opportunity to select their own installation location. I would also suggest also that the installer should extend to offer the option to move everything and auto-update the Registry (when Registry keys are used) should the user need to move everything again (or any time they choose).
Personally, I prefer the fixed directory for VST3 over having to make sure that every VST2 installation ends up in the correct directory.

If they were smart, they'd put it on a CLAP introduction sale. I would probably jump. I've been messing with Bitwig 8 Track on and off for a week now and there is much to like.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 4:11 pm Just watched the video: makes me want to buy Bitwig. There is usually a summer sale in June, probably to line up with 4.3 coming out of beta as you need 4.3 for CLAP
Also people can demo it when it's out of beta...

I’m not sure if any other DAW can or will be capable of Voice Stacking as Bitwig does.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 4:11 pm Just watched the video: makes me want to buy Bitwig. As I understand, voice stacking will probably be available with CLAP. I’m not sure how other DAWs will implement it as elegantly as in Bitwig or if at all.
I didn’t use this feature before because I hardly used the built in devices in Bitwig (because I use u-he almost exclusively) but if that’s coming….
