It means less than nothing to me, as such, but as a matter of principle I think it's to be applauded. I also think it's pretty cool on Tom's part to be OK with it. I'ddefintiey be more interested in purchasing if hewas getting royalties but I bet he isn't.

Anyway, I just popped back in to say that when you click on the big red activity LED, it plays a C3 note. Very handy.

I tried to save a SEM patch in .sem format, but the only option available is to save it in .xml format.
Weekend is coming up, so it may be a bit before I get a reply, but there's really no big hurry.
NikkiA wrote: Fri Jul 08, 2022 10:58 pm No, I only have OB-E, I imagine you'd have to export them as .sem from the back panel of the SEM

Which I see isn't there, on the demo at least, perhaps it's a feature only on the full version, or perhaps they forgot it :P
Full details on transferring patches can be found in the SEM manual, which is online. But in short: OB-E saves individual SEM settings as a .sem file (this stays as it's compatible way back to OB-E v1). SEM can read those from it's normal patch browser. But SEM saves it's presets as a .xml file. OB-E (2.1 or newer) can read that xml file. It has to be loaded via SEM Load button on the flip side of an OB-E SEM. GForce recommend moving/copying the file in your filesystem, but you can browse to it if you prefer.

Those are the exact words playing over in my mind.
Went straight to OB-E. Kept going back&forth between it and Cherry's vision of it...
It's pricy. yup. But does it sound "meaty"? double yup

Unify plus SEM works pretty well for 8 voice polyphony and with Bitwig and MPE you can use micropitch and randomised cutoff frequency per voice

I feel this. Just thought I'd share, now back to your regularly scheduled content.

That's the best sounding synth I've bought ever. (new toy syndrome) and SOOO CPU light.
But I've been eyeballing it since the day I could not get it on Windows :)

Did you not try bx_oberhausen? It's 32 voice meaty and way, way fatter than anything else, this side of Union.

TBH, the Gforce one is a lot more fun though... there's something more immediate than the bx_oberhausen, and it's more fun to tweak the sound for me.

As much as i like oberhausen's sound, I frequently lost interest in it after a very short time.

The biggest downside with the Gforce SEM is that it's monophonic indeed. But, I can understand why. It would be jeopardizing sales of the big brother, and, it's supposed to be a single module taken out of it.

I own bx_0berhausen. and no... it's not quite there
Wish there was some resell value to PA stuff.

Well, I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't RTFM. :dog:
But in my defense, I tried that procedure several times before I saw your post,
and either I'm doing something wrong or it's a bug.
Either way, it will probably get sorted.

Love that sine patch!

Post

OK trying it now - I think it's great and indeed sounds even more alive to me than the bx - instant 'Stranger Things' potential

The patch browser looks like a work in progress though

Post

Yeah their patch browser is a wip.. And they acknowledge it and working on it.. have no idea when.
But I am with you..I used the bx oberhausen (different oberheim I know but I preferred it to obsession), but since I bought ob-e I haven't used it and took it out of 'rotation'.
For me the ob-e is so much more ear candy to my ear anyway.. Bought this but haven't had a chance to install or play with it it yet..
