sigh.
That segment of the ADSR wont matter if Sustain is zero.
We show on the UI what the chip _really_ outputs. if that segment makes no difference to the ADSR calculations, it will not show on the UI.
Also the last step is always "infinite". It stalls the whole ADSR. Its what the chip does and we tried our best to show what it really output depending on what the user entered.
You can use other FM synths if that bothers you.

Model 15 is vst3?
Yes, a wrapped version

The auv3 works better though - but for some reason Bidule ignores it

EDIT: We just looked over this and maybe found a way to make it a bit smoother in a future update
Could the ADSR controls be re-implemented as some type of sliders, instead of as knobs?

Sliders, knobs wont matter. The resulting 32 possible values are not linear. I guess we could remove the display completely.

The display is still nice to have

If, as you earlier said, there's a chance to smooth the mouse movements throughout the values, it's a welcome update.

Otherwise, I mean, it still works good and very precise with the mouse-wheel and the stepped increments.

I wasn't talking about the graphical presentation of the curve, or how the envelope actually reacts to the position of the knob.
I was talking about how the knob reacts to the position of the mouse.

As you can see in my clip, in the beginning you turn the knob as soon as you move the mouse. But then somehow the point around which you can move the knob gets shiftet more and more away from the knob.
Also the distance to move the knob from 0 to full (or back) is rather small (and I think also not constant).

And then in the end, where I move the D knob, you can also see how the knob sometimes jitters back and forth while I go slowly up-down.
That's what I meant in my first post. That tiny left-right-movement I make while going up-down has such a big influence, that it makes it hard to hit certain numbers.

Also (again):
Shift is not doing what it's supposed to do on the ADSDR knobs.
It's not giving finer control. And it's even making the knob jump, if you add it, while you're already turning the knob.
(It jumps back to where it was, when you started to turn the knob.)

As someone getting their feet wet with chiptunes, I'd love to hear your advice on this: should I wait for Chipsounds 2.0 or buy it now?

Wait for 2.0: ETA unknown
Buy it now: upgrade pricing policy unknown

There's a plan for chipsounds 2.0?
I thought it was only going to be chipsynths from now on.

I'll make it easy for you. chipsounds 2.0 will not happen. The plan was quickly changed to a separate chipsynth for each system. Starting with stuff that we had not previously covered. (FM, SNES, etc)

Each of those systems has unique limitations, signal workflow, preset types and song format. The only way to fix some compromises initially made for chipsounds was to let each system shine in its own dedicated thing. Also we can concentrate even more on each in terms of accuracy, take the time to give the platform justice.

I currently do not see a concrete end to the synth line. Just in my head I see something like 10 more chipsynths we can do, so no telling if/ever there will be a "suite" package. Sounds cool though.

Cheers

Yeah, I can confirm this behaviour. Only seems to happen with the ADSR knobs in MD. If I grab any of the ADSR knobs, then move my mouse around the screen for a moment with the mouse button held down, now the "active" area where the knob actually turns could be just about anywhere on my monitor. With any other knob, the active area always stays right on top / around the knob. I'm using Logic on Mac (obviously), everything is the latest version.

Funny how FC was the first announced and will ship last in the ones that were announced.
C64 is next. We are deeply focussed on it.

Thank you for your willingness to share a sneak peek of your plans, David!

That definitely makes the decision easier for me! I fully support the vision of a suite of separate emus, such a product lineup is easier to grasp for me as a noob customer. Glad to know it makes technical sense from the dev's perspective too.

Looking forward to your future work! :)

This was the last public update on the matter.
