Thanks for the prompt and very informative reply.
Your reply is encouraging news to me. :tu:
Looks like I should try the demo.

What advantage do I gain by using Mulab Plugin in Mulab App as opposed to using the Mulab Plugin in another DAW? And what do I loose when Using Mulab Plugin in another DAW and not in Mulab App. Trying to decide to get the Mulab Plugin with or without the Mulab App.

Post

There is no advantage of using MuLab Plugin inside MuLab App because everything you have in MuLab App also exists in MuLab Plugin and the other way around. MuLab Plugin is the same as MuLab App, just that MuLab Plugin is a plugin and MuLab App is stand-alone. Please also see:

Thanks for the clarification.

How do I change the master tempo in Mulab 9? I'm making a beat that changes tempo throughout but it's difficult to do that with this new percent system for changing tempo. Its set at 128=100% and I'm not sure where to go to change that.

Post

The master tempo is defined at the top modular level = the project level.

For MuLab App the master tempo can be set in the Project Modular Area.
For MuLab Plugin the master tempo is defined by the host DAW.

When you set a new tempo in the composer you can simply input it as BPM, as in M8.
If you input with a % sign at the end it is interpreted as percent tempo.

PS: Ok i see that when using "Insert Tempo Change" and "Edit Tempo Changes" the tempi are in percent only. I'll look into that.

Post

For "Insert Tempo Change" and "Edit Tempo Changes" i'll keep things as is for now.
But this trick might help: If you're using MuLab 9 App with a single composer (thus like a traditional DAW) then you could set the project tempo to 100 BPM. Then when inserting / editing tempo changes it's easy to translate the percent values to BPM because eg. 128% of 100 BPM = 128 BPM.

MuLab App 9.0.47 is available in https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/latest-binary

What's changed:
  • Step Sequencer Steps/Beat now can be any number from 1 to 16.
  • Step Sequencer now also has a tempo factor per pattern.
  • Step Sequencer: Switching patterns didn't properly work anymore. Fixed.
  • Several shortcuts that used "Show/Hide..." have been renamed to "Toggle..." so to make shortcut function names more uniform.
If you used any of these, you'll get a notification on startup and you might want to reset these shortcuts.
  • Toggling the rack desk with a shortcut did not update the respective button in the composer panel at the top. Fixed.
  • Filter graph now is drawn independent from on/off state again. (as was before M9.0.43)
  • When changing the play position on the timeline, the tempo track was not always properly taken into account. Fixed.
  • Other small improvements.
Currently the M9.0.47 update is only available for MuLab App for Windows.
The corresponding updates for MuLab Plugin and for MacOS will follow soonish.

Attention: Due to some initial research works on CLAP, there already are some internal changes in the plugin system. These changes should not have any effect on using VST2 plugins and everything should work as before, the only visual difference is some labels that have changed from "VST" to the more generic "Plugins". To avoid misunderstanding: CLAP is not yet supported. But M9.0.47 is based on code that already has some preparations towards upgrading the plugin system. If you notice anything odd wrt using VST2 plugins please let me know. Your feedback will help in progressing faster. Thanks.

Wonderful, with CLAP support I'll be able to use Surge XT without VST3 to VST wrapper:))

In current version dragging a sequence from live matrix to the timeline creates a new copy (without key modifier), is that intended?

Post

Expanding tracks' size no longer works properly, while using a mouse wheel to enlarge all tracks the view jumps to the tracks on top, and not the track under the cursor, visible with many tracks.

Yes, it's intended.

As far as i see the only case where this happens if when the total track height is smaller than the available track space. As soon as the total track height is greater than the available track space then zooming in on a track keeps the same track mouse-centered. All the same as in M8. Right?
